I fell deeper and deeper into that hole and expected to hit the ground like a ton of bricks only to hit water. It was a small pool of water but it was pretty deep. I thought " How lucky I was to hit this water " I spoke to soon, I could feel the water pulling me and I could feel myself moving to find the water was a stream leading to an even deeper hole. I realized a little bit too late and I fell into an even deeper part of the cave. Again. The water churned around me as I managed to swim to the surface, gasping for air. "Why do these kind of things always happen to me?". I staggered to my feet. It was so dark in this cavern that it was impossible to see anything.
I could hear distant noises echoing down the many paths that lead from this one cavern. Noises like bones clunking around, groans and a very soft tapping on the walls. I was practically frozen with fear now. Thank the gods of this world that fire can be lit with little effort and can be fit into your pocket.
I whipped out my wooden pickaxe and broke a piece of coal that I was conveniently standing near by. Suddenly I heard something, I quickly crafted and pulled the torch out as quickly as my arms would allow. I could hear hissing, like a spider and it was getting closer but which way could it be coming from? There were several smaller caves branching out from this one big cavern. The hissing was getting louder, I had to get out. The way I got in was a large waterfall. I wasn't getting out that way.
The noise was getting louder. I took a deep breath and decided to go through the tunnels. Just one problem. Ok maybe two, I didn't know which way the noise was coming from nor did I know what were in the other tunnels either. Ok make three, I was also really scared. But I wasn't going to stick around here and be killed so I took a pick. There were so many tunnels, some leading up, sideways and others. I picked....left.
