The alarm on my phone buzzed with the sweet melody of "Replay" from SHINee. A sigh left my lips as I hummed the tune, still half conscious. The thought of 5 more minutes of sleep sounded just splendid, so I did just that. That was until a banging on my door startled me out of the bed, literally. I got a mouth full of fuzzy pink carpet and enough dust to give any decent being a coughing fit.
"Jangmi hurry up before you're late for your graduation ceremony." Eomma boomed through the door.
I rolled my eyes knowing she was just nagging, I wouldn't actually be late. I pulled myself form the floor and grabbed my phone."I bet it's still pretty earl-"I started as the lock screen flashed the time. I almost had a heart attack when I read it. My legs moved on their own accord as I ran to grab my uniform and prepare myself for what would be the last day of my high school career. With one more once over of my outfit I headed down the stairs to grab a piece of toast and slip my shoes on. I kissed Appa and Eomma good-bye before bolting out the door like a maniac.
~At School~
"It's about time you got up Jangmi I was afraid you wouldn't show up." Park Ji-woo, my best friend said as she looked at my pitiful out of breath figure.
I let out a weak laugh, "yeah I kind of overslept a bit."
She gave a soft snort, "What's your definition of a bit. The ceremonies starting in 15 minutes."
I gave a soft pout, I got here didn't I."
Ji-woo, laughed and threw her hands up in a surrendering motion, "Fine, I won't pick on you anymore. Just because it's a special day.
I linked arms with her as other class mates came up to talk to us.
"So what do you guys plan to do for college?" one said.
"I'm thinking of going to the University here" piped Ji-woo.
"What about you Jangmi-ssi?" He pressed.
I felt a soft blush fall on my face, "W-well, I don't exactly know if I want to go to college. I would really love to continue my music." A few people listening snickered as my ears turned a soft pink. I knew they would laugh. But no matter what I wouldn't let there mockery kill my dream. Otherwise I would have quit years ago.
A few moment's later the speaker announced for all the students to head to the auditorium for the ceremony.
~After the Ceremony~
"Ughh that was to long and way to boring for it to be my final moments as a high-school student." Grumbled Ji-woo as we walked out the the Auditorium with Diplomas in hand.
"Tell me about it."
A few moments later my parents walked up along with Ji-woo's Dad. "Congratulations to the two of you. How do you feel?" Ji-woo's dad asked handing his daughter flowers.
"I feel amazing."Ji-woo chirped taking the flowers and giving them a hearty sniff.
I giggled at the gesture and smiled, I really would miss spending time with her.
Eomma gave a starting clap as she spoke," How about we celebrate this momentous occasion with dinner. Ji-woo would you like to join us with your father?"
Both Ji-woo and I smiled,"Thank you very much for the offer, We'd love too."
~The Lee House~
"Ahhh, that meal was delicious Mrs. Lee, I hope to be as good of a cook as you are." Ji-woo smiled, stomach full and plate empty.
Eomma cupped her cheeks, blushing, "Ooh, please this was nothing. I bet you're an excellent cook."
I smiled, I always loved how humble my mom was about everything, she truly excelled in everything she did.
Ji-woo's dad gave a soft chuckle before turning his attention to me," So Jangmi, Ji-woo has been telling me about how you want to pursue music instead of go to college."
My stomach gave a tight lurch as I realized what he just said, I hadn't told my parents yet about what I was going to do about college. The room grew quiet instantaneously. I could feel the gaze of everyone on me. The most clear to make out was my parents who looked both shocked and highly upset.
Appa was first to speak, "J-jangmi is what he's saying ... true?" The last word that came out was filled with so much anger, had he been holding a glass I'm sure it would break.
I couldn't respond it was like my tongue had been glued to the roof of my mouth. How could I tell them?
