The day went by quick and the had storm died down. However, the grey clouds released their final collection of rain, many droplets hit the window creating a slow, yet steady tempo.
Marie opened her eyes, but this time the fire within her had diminished and their color shifted from red to the color of light chocolate. She took in her surroundings, slowly adapting to the only light illuminating in the corner of her dark hospital room. Marie was taken aback by a rhythm of beeps. Multiple actually.. as she listened to the machines around her. Wires were connected to her chest and broken body. For a brief minute, she was unaware of who she was. As her vision adjusted, a sudden flash of lightning struck the sky and startled her. In that moment of quick light she saw a small mirror by her bedside. She did not look. She didn't want to look. Soon she started to recall running in the rain holding... her.. wait....

She twisted her head all around the room. Then panic began to build up inside her. 'Baby?! Where's my baby?!'
The monitor went wild as her heart began to race, she needed to know if her child was safe. "Ms. White?" Marie's head twisted to a nurse. "Where is my baby?" Marie calmly demanded, but the woman wouldn't answer and completely dodged her question. "Ms. White, I'm going to need you to calm down and relax."
"Please tell me where is she?!" The nurse noticed the panic in Marie's voice and in a soothing honest tone said "She's doing fine, we are running a few tests". Holding a long tube she stuck a needle inside and fluid began to sweep through entering Marie's body.

"What are you doing?" Marie asked. The nurse turned on the light, the entire room was lit up and a familiar woman stood at the entrance holding a clip board. "Thank you, you may go"
The nurse left and the woman stayed. Marie's vision was more clear and wide awake. She stared at the woman. "You.. I know you.."
The woman sat down, crossed her fine long legs, gave a chuckle and said "Good to see you Evelyn"
Marie's eyes widen, and the nurse slowly closed and locked the door.

I scrolled through pictures of my phone from at least a decade ago and stared at a young, beautiful Marie. I remember she came to this country and it seemed like she was running away from something, hiding something. I remember creating for her false ID papers and she kept insisting she use the name, 'Maria White'. We faked her age, birthday, everything was changed. Physically, her hair grew longer and over the years she gotten taller, even older but aged well like fine wine. But two days ago, when I found her in my drive way she looked dead. I know very little of what happened to her in France. I know very little of what happened when I found her. But one that I do know, she's a killer. Mentally, she's unwell.

After swiping some more, there was a pic that stood out the most, Marie's eyes. Sometimes they were a light honey colour, most times they were a dark red. And very rarely brown. But this time, her eyes were a shade of dark green. Bewildered, I rechecked the picture, zooming in on one then both of her almond-shaped eyes. A lovely shade of green. Marie had a closed smile, sitting in a field wearing something that resembled a long yellow sundress. And her hair was big long curly locks that hung passed her shoulders. "Where was this taken at?" I said quietly to myself. Just then at the corner of my eye very large figure walked past. 'Eddie!'
I got up really fast and sure enough I was right. "Hey!" Eddie turned and I struck him in the chest. It was a dumb move cause I was met with knuckle pain and the hit hardly phased him. "Fuck!".
"Where is she?" He demanded.
"I'm not telling you anything, and you are not allowed to see the baby or Marie!" I said rubbing my pulsing bruised fist.
Eddie looked down at me rolling his eyes, "I'll find her myself" and sped walk away from me leaving me. I tried to catch up but, I was blessed with short fine legs. I had to run in order to get past him.
He approached the door with the last name 'White'. I tried blocking the door but he pushed me out of his way. He walked in and I waited.  After a second or two, Eddie quickly walked out "Ok, Where is my wife?!"
"She's not your wife?! Y'all are not even legally married!!".
I walked in. The room was empty.
"What the hell?"
Wheels started turning in my mind. I paced around the room running around in circles trying to think. A nurse walked in. "Hello, if you're looking for Ms. White, I'm afraid she has been transferred and admitted"
With a rush of worry, Eddie and me approached her with haste.
"What room?" Eddie spat.
She looked at both of us. "I'm sorry but not room, an institute. She has been loaded and sent to another better hospital for treatment" the nurse then grabbed the eraser and wiped 'White' clean off the board. "Where is my daughter?!" Eddie blue eyes stared to turn red, the veins in his head was popping out of his skin. The nurse looked at us.

Traveling down a dark road, an ambulance sped in the night following a car. Marie sat sleeping in a carrier with men dressed in white surrounding her. The car that was led by the ambulance was driven by a woman, in the backseat in a baby carrier, was the daughter of Eddie and Marie. Cooing and staring at the blue and red lights sweeping through the back windshield, the baby was hushed by the female driver. "Shhh... there there your mommy is belongs to me, and you just an addition sweetheart" a devilish smile spreads across her face as they drove fast in the night far away from the hospital and out of town.
