Her existence was something he had never forgotten. The time they spent together had always haunted him. Even if time had erased all signs of her existence, he alone remembered her. The memories they created together were his greatest treasure. However, the more he tried to remember them the vaguer they became. He was tormented as those broken shards of memories slipped from his hands. They were just like sand grains; the more he wanted them to stop falling the more they fell. He shouted and yelled her name only to find it echoing back. Her absence was driving him insane.
He tried to move on. He tried falling in love with someone else. He might have succeeded if only he did not search for her in that someone. However, he did that and in the process broke that someone completely. He was not able to overcome the hurdle or fly out of the cage. Her existence was engraved on his heart and mind. He was cursed to remain a caged bird.
Even his sleep was possessed by the same thoughts. He tried chasing after her disappearing vestige but to no avail. The very nightmare intensified his guilt. The memory where he left her to die drove him to lunacy. How he wished he could go back in time! Despite all his wishes, it was to no avail. For once you lose someone to death, there is no way of return.
She had cursed him to remain eternally hers. She believed it was a small price to pay for his redemption. After all, his betrayal had led to her untimely demise.
