Chapter 6-"Her"

Rainy's Pov

Tears ran down my face as I took another hit to the face from Darien. My cheek stung as he continued to kick me. "Dumb Bitch.. I wish your mother never had your ass!" he boomed kicking me in the face one last time. My body ached as I laid on the floor in the living room. My mom stood over me and laughed and pointed kicking me in the shin.

I then shot up but was pulled back down by a weight wrapped around me. I felt my cheeks soaked with tears and I tried to control my breathing by taking slow breaths. I heard a light groan next to me and I looked over to see daddy sleeping. I sighed and laid my head down on his chest trying to wipe away my tears on his shirt. He seemed to wake up from that gesture because his eyes opened a little.

"Aw princess why are you crying?" he asked in a groggy voice before sitting up and cradling me to his chest. "I had a nightmare." I responded nuzzling my head into his neck. "What was it about?" He wiped my tears away with his thumb before I answered, "Trolls." I lied. I couldn't tell him about Darien because if I do then Darien said that he was going to kill me. Literally.

"Trolls?" Daddy asked. I could here in his voice that he didn't believe me but I decided to through with the lie. "Yeah it was awful." I continued looking up at him. He pursed his lips to the side and sighed as he cooed. "Don't worry I'll protect you from anything princess." He assured kissing my forehead. I nodded understanding.

"You hungry?" he asked rubbing my back comfortingly. "Yea." I responded as he got up and held my hand as we walked to the kitchen. He tapped his chin as he looked through the cabinets. "Hmm. Do you like cereal?" he asked pulling out a box of Captain Crunch. I nodded as I sat on the stool in front of the Long Island counter. "Cereal it is." he mumbled taking out a bowl and poured cereal in it.

While he started to pour the milk in the bowl the same lady I saw yesterday came down the stairs rubbing her eyes. She stopped when she noticed me. I turned my attention away from her intimidating eyes and fumbled with my fingers. "Ok princess eat up we have to go shopping for your new room." he reminded smiling lightly and handing me my bowl of cereal.

"Thanks daddy." I said dipping my spoon in my cereal and chewing it. It was silence as the lady ignored both of us and got her brown drink before sitting on the chair next to me. "Geez who died?" Chris joked coming down the stairs cracking a smile. "It's quieter than a library in here. Hey Mike where's Pam?" he asked sitting down on the chair on my left.

"I'm not sure I haven't seen her yet. She's probably still sleeping." Daddy answered peeling an orange and eating it. Chris nodded and turned his attention to the lady. "Hi to you too Lauren." Chris said expecting a hi. She looked up from her coffee and narrowed her eyes at Chris. "Hi." she forced. I rolled my eyes at her and shook my head.

She has some attitude. I thought eating my cereal. "Rainy!" I heard daddy scold. I snapped out of my thoughts and raised my eyebrows. "What happened?" I asked clueless. Chris was laughing uncontrollably. "Mike man even the baby is saying she got an attitude." I guess I said that out loud. "Hey I agree. Put a little perk in your step girl!" Chris encouraged nudging her stiff figure.

She rolled her eyes and walked out of the kitchen. Chris' laughs died down and he rubbed his eyes before getting up to look in the fridge. "Rainy that wasn't nice. You should go and apologize." He said folding his arms. I groaned a little before jumping off the tall chair and walking trying to find the drama queen. I finally found her because I heard mumbling voices on the other side of the door.

"No baby I promise I'll get the money for us soon from the creep. That brat is just standing in the way!" I heard her snap to the other person on the phone. I furrowed my eyebrows and widened my eyes when she opened the door to see me by the door with my ear no longer pressed against the doors.
