"Mother earlier today you mentioned that you would not allow for me to go through what you did." she brought up the matter suddenly as if she were only mildly intrigued. Her mother looked at her with a puzzled look as to pretend she dint know where this were going.
"So, you must reveal want you meant" she noticed her mother wont say a word without her being utterly clear, and that she would have to probe her more.
It was a windy afternoon, Scarlett was sitting in her bed chamber along with her two daughters, Aurora and Amara. Amara was learning to knit like her mother while Aurora looked upon the already learnt task.
"Oh it was nothing dear, just a phrase. Everyone uses it. Everyone wants a better life for their children then they had." Scarlett brushed off the incident.
"Now I am undoubtedly sure that you are hiding something, I know you well enough to know that." it was the only intriguing matter for Aurora at the moment amidst the current dull afternoon.
"Ah dear, you think you know your mother." she smirked and smiled it away.
"Now I am interested as well, I would also like to know." Amara's curiosity had now taken a different path from knowing to knit, to the conversation that her mother was desperately trying to elude.
"Now you must say. For every time you bring up something intriguing such as this statement, you always brush it away, and leave us and the talk midway, with some work that desperately requires your attention." Aurora was ready to tackle all the reasons her mother would give, she had heard a fair share of those until now. Today she wont let her mother leave without having all the answers to her questions, and Scarlett could see it on her face that today she might not be able to run from this one.
"Mother you can share any story with us, we are not too young anymore. We understand. And it might be hard to talk about even but we will always be here with you." Scarlett truly knew now that Aurora had indeed grown up. She could see past the smile of her mother's and sense something was not right.
"Don't worry dear the hardest part was living through it which is already over, telling you about it is way easier." Scarlett looked away from her daughters staring towards the window imagining the abyss of her past life.
The daughters came and sat next to their mother, worried unknowing to the fact that she might just be holding on to a lot more than they would assume. "We wont stop loving you mother. You will always be who you are right at this moment." Amara assured understanding her mother's silence.
"Well I have always told you how your father and I got married for love, had you and how everyone in this family loves one another. Even told you stories about your childhood. And be rest assured I have always told you the truth. It is what I haven't told you that I worry about. It is my past, where I come from, how I came here and how I ended up with your father." she wanted to scare them away, giving them a chance to back away , to think they are better off without knowing.
Until now she too thought it was better that they dint know, but looking at them now, how strong and thoughtful they had become she wanted them to know so they would never make the mistakes she did.
"We said it, and we will say it again nothing you tell us will make us believe otherwise. We have always loved you and will continue to do so and be by your side." Aurora gave her the confirmation she needed.
