🎶In my blood🎶
Leon's POV
"He knows nothing Stanley" I stated as I moved away from the man tied to the metallic chair, my fingers going through my hair roughly. Stanely observed me for a moment before speaking.
"I fail to think he would work in an organization and not know anything" Stanely stated as he stared at the man's identification card.
"If I am correct he did say he has been working here for only four months" I told my team mate.
"Four months is a lot of time Kennedy" he countered, his gaze fixed to me.
"Not ling enough to gain an employers trust however" I corrected, glancing at the man tied to the chair.
"You are off your game Kennedy" Stanley stated as he gestured for the rest of our team to continue interrogating the man. He placed a hand to my shoulder gently, leading me out of the room.
"Off my game?" I repeated as we were in the hall, me leaning against the wall with my arms crossed. What was he getting at?
"Something is up with you Kennedy...something bothers you. I mean I picked it up earlier but it is evident now" Stanely stated as he lit a cigarette, offering me one from the box which I took.
I placed the cigarette to my lips, leaning my head against the wall gently. He lit it, me taking a huge draw of smoke.
Was it that evident that something or someone had been on my mind for the last two days.
"It's nothing I can't handle" I replied but instead of putting the issue to rest Stanley chose to elaborate.
"Its the red head isn't it?" He stated and I almost swallowed the cigarette as I turned my head to look at him. Well he was pretty observing that Claire meant so much to me as he had only met her once.
"Claire is it?" Stanley continued and I really almost swallowed the cigarette.
"I admire your brain power Stanley" I admitted as I puffed smoke, Stanley doing the same before he decided to speak.
"Well that's a huge compliment coming from you Kennedy, you aren't the easiest guy to work with" Stanely stated and I eyed him.
"I'm flattered" I replied and he chuckled.
"Well I don't know what it is but take all the time you need" he told me as he squeezed my shoulder before leaving me to drown in my thoughts. I inhale heavily smoke, staring before me.
"Leon I'm really sorry for what you saw but I swear I'll make everything up to you...Wesker and I was a mistake" she stated softly and at the mention of his name I felt bitter.
"A mistake you allowed to happen" I hissed, the words leaving my lips was unplanned. Claire looked at me with intense narrowed eyes.
"The last time I checked you distinctly made me aware of you walking out on me Leon so don't you stand there as though you care about me! " she yelled and I became equally angry.
She wasn't wrong abour me leaving her, what she was wrong about was me not caring for her. Claire really would never fully understand because I wasn't the best at showing emmotions.
I closed my eyes, not wanting to remember what happened two days ago. I was really a bastard towards Claire, throwing her blame that didn't belong to her.
I could not help but feeling slightly disappointed in her for making such a stupid decision. I couldn't feel angry at her for doing so however, I was completely angry at myself for landing her in this mess.
Removing my cell phone I hesitated as soon as I brought Claire's number up, a smiling picture of Claire on display. Thank god for her brother, giving me her number before even giving his sister the phone was a wise decision.
I took a heavy breath, it was a little past midnight and to be honest the last thing I wanted was to upset claire by waking her. I think I've upset her enough.
Calling her was one thing but knowing what to say to her was the other bridge to cross. If I called and she responded to empty air Claire would easily hang up on me. She could be very impatient when she wanted to.
Finally deciding to be a man I was just about to dial Claire when the phone vibrated in my hands, her caller ID flashing across the screen. Well this was a sudden surprise, I answered on the first ring.
"Hello" I answered hoarsely, clearing the my throat afterwards when I heard shuffling. My voice actually came out rougher than usual, sartling me in the process.
"You're an ass and I hate you" she greeted and I walked over to a wooden box and sat on it.
"Look I'm...", but instead of giving me at least a second to speak Claire lashed out her aanger at me.
"I hate the fact that I can't sleep because of you! The fact that I can't sleep because every you said to me is replayed in my head...the fact that I can't sleep knowing you hate me for what I did" she stated on a cracked voice, my hand tightening its hold on the cell phone resting in my hand.
"I don't hate you" I told her firmly but it was as though I had said the opposite.
"If you hated me that much why did you come back for me? I knew you left me for a reason" Claire stated softly as she hicupped, glass connecting with a wooden surface.
She was drinking, that much was clear to me. I could hear the alcohol in her voice but I still spoke, at least on the phone I could stop her from doing something stupid.
"Have you been drinking?" I asked and she gawked in my ear before speaking. Yes, she was definitely drinking.
"Three bottles but you don't have to worry...Chris and Jill here with me" she hicupped. Chris could be an idiot sometimes, he knew his sister did not handle liquor well yet he allowed her to drink. I listened to the low sound of the TV playing in Claire's background before deciding to speak.
"We need to talk Claire" I told her in a strict tone, flippimg a coin with my free hand.
"Actually I don't feel like talking to you anymore" she told me truthfully. My eyes went wide.
"Claire what is said about Wesker..." And before I could say anything else she hung up, me still holding the phone to my ear.
"Shit!" I hissed, lowering the phone slowly.
Women...Hard to live with yet you can't live without them.
