Birds sang, and the sun's light spilled into the bedroom. The redhead groaned and pushed herself up. She glanced at the time and grinned. Today was the day. It had been a little over five years since she had surprised the love of her life. Now, was the day, that everything came true.

Her bedroom door flung open to reveal a very hyped up person. "Ka-gu-ra! Time to get ready!!!"

"I'm up Nobume," she smiled. Nobume was practically bouncing off the walls.

"Oh I'm so excited! Aren't you? Today's the day!" Nobume squealed. She all but pulled Kagura out of her bed. "Come on, come on, come on! Let's go clean you up!" Kagura laughed and let her friend pull her down the stairs. A white dress hung on the wall and make-up and beauty products lined the counters.

"You nervous?" Nobume asked, sitting her down.

"Nope. I'm just ready to be his forever," Kagura grinned.

"And he's ready to be yours forever," Nobume said. She began combing Kagura's hair. "So, what'd you get him for a wedding present?"

"Oh no. No one knows until I unveil it," Kagura said impishly. Nobume groaned and stomped her foot but Kagura didn't cave. She really wanted to, but she managed to contain herself. She had found out about a month or so ago, and it baffled her to no end. There had been countless of trying explanations, but it was no secret that even the doctors were unsure of how it had happened to her. They just said to call it a miracle because she had defied the impossible. Somehow, someway, something inside her body had changed and now she had the most precious wedding gift that any woman could want.

She giggled to herself as she remembered what she had said to the doctors. "Don't worry, it's not the first time I defied the impossible. After all, I did become one of the world's most notorious bounty hunters in five short years." And she'd even gotten her father's recognization. After not speaking with him for a little over three years, she finally agreed to a simple lunch with him in town.

They'd talked for hours and he revealed that the reason he was so against her becoming a bounty hunter was because he wanted her to have a peaceful life. He didn't want her to get caught up in a bloody mess and end up next to her mother. She forgave him as she understood his motives and they made sure to talk to each other every Sunday night so as not to lose touch again. Now, he had officially declared her his rival and she loved it. Of course, when he heard she was getting married, some things had gotten a bit out of hand, but in the end, he approved of Sougo and was currently waiting to walk her down the aisle.

"Stop laughing! I'll mess up!" Nobume said.

"Sorry, sorry," Kagura apologized and patiently waited for Nobume to work her magic. For the next three hours, Nobume wrestled with her hair and put on her make-up. "Ta-daa!" She finally said and Kagura smiled at her reflection. "Damn," she said. "And here I thought you were useless when it came to making someone beautiful."

"Rude! Now hurry up and put on your dress! We have a chapel to be at!" Laughing Kagura took the dress and ran to the bedroom to change.

                                                                          ~~~~
"You ready Sougo?" Kamui asked.
"Ever since I first pushed her up against the school and kissed her in the rain," the young man laughed.
"I'm pretty sure you don't need a warning, but you treat my sister right, you got it?" Kamui threatened, wagging his finger.
"Got it," Sougo grinned.
"Now go out there and make her the happiest woman in the world!" Kamui said, giving him a little push. Sougo gave him a mock salute before taking his place at the podium. He took a deep breath and when the music changed to her theme, he released it.
The doors flung open and she took his breath away. He thought she was done doing that, but nope, she still had a few tricks up her sleeve. Her hair was wavy with part of it styled in a crown braid while the rest flowed freely down her back. Gold outlined her eyes and her lips were his favorite shade of red. She wore a gown of white and it hugged her curves perfectly. On her neck, was the locket he'd given her back in the day. It had been a birthday present and she had loved it from the minute she saw it.
She joined him up on the podium where the preacher began to speak. Both of them weren't listening. "You look beautiful," he whispered.
"Shh, we're supposed to listen to this ol man," she said with a mock sincerity. They both had to hide their laughter.
"Are you ready?" He asked.
"I've been ready for ten years."
"Have I really spent my time with such an obnoxious woman for that long?"
"And you're about to spend it with me forever."
"Meh, I could have done worse."
"You ass! You say that as if I couldn't have done better than you," she teased. He smiled at her. The preacher paused and asked Sougo the question first.
"Do you Sougo, take this woman, to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I do," he said without hesitation.
"And do you, Kagura, take this man, to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"Meh. I guess," she grinned and laughter echoed throughout the church. Even the priest couldn't hide his ghost of a smile at her.
"Then with the power vested in me, I now pronounce you, husband and wife. You may kiss your bride."
"Screw that! I'm kissing my husband!" Kagura said, before grabbing Sougo by his shirt and smashing her lips onto his. Cheers and laughter erupted at the same time. Sougo grasped her just as tightly as she held him, and even when they broke apart, he could still feel her lips on his. "I love you Kagura," he said so only she could hear.
"And I love you Sougo," she whispered back. They looked at each other and smiled. They were never going to be without each other again.
                                                                          ~~~

"Alright Alright, settle down!" Kagura yelled. "I have an announcement to make!" All the guests quieted immediately and turned towards her. "I haven't Sougo his wedding present yet. Nobody knows what it is either. I want everyone to turn and look at the projector behind you."

Sougo gave her a quizzical look but turned anyway. An image showed up, and everyone gasped and tears filled Sougo's eyes as he whipped his head back towards Kagura. She smiled gently at him and said, "Are you ready to be a father Sougo?"

                                                                            ~~~
Three years later
"I'm gonna get you!" The toddler squealed with delight as his mother chased him around the living room. She grabbed him and tickled his belly causing him to laugh even harder.
The living room door opened and the police officer set down his cap. "How I love hearing you two when I come home," he said, his voice sending vibrations up and down her spine. Damn, even after being with him for thirteen years, his voice never failed to excite her. "Daddy!" The little boy squealed in delight. His father stole him from his mother's arms and swung him around. The boy laughed and laughed and laughed.
"Welcome home Sougo," Kagura smiled. He stopped swinging the boy around and instead wrapped his arms around her, the boy safely cocooned between them.
"I'm home."
