Song:
Strawberries and Cigarettes by Troye Sivan
——————————————————————-
"Simon, where are you going?""Out." He replied to his mother. He would normally be polite to his family but after the musical, his dad somehow convinced his family to treat him differently.
"Please come sit before you leave."
Simon rolled his eyes and sat in a chair across from the women.
"What?" He asked.
"Prom is coming up, are you going?"
"Yeah I am."
"Oh did that nice boy ask you?"
Simon stared in disbelief. "Are you kidding me Mom?!"
"What? I'm just asking a question!"
"You have ignored me for the past 2 weeks! Ever since Dad said he doesn't accept me and never will you have done anything and everything to avoid me. Now all of a sudden you want to know what's happening in my life? About Jeremy? Not going to happen."
Simon then got up and walked out the door, shutting it with a slam.
Jeremy was in the driveway on his phone and he looked up when he heard the car door shut.
He could tell there was something bothering him.
"Hey Si, what's wrong?"
"Nothing. I'm not letting my family ruin our day."
Although Simon said this, Jeremy knew it was eating him up inside.
Jeremy unbuckled his seatbelt and turned his body to Simon.
Simon giggled. "Yes?"
"Simon, don't try to act like you're not bothered. We can still have a good day but we won't if you are thinking about your family the whole time."
He took a deep breath. "My mom wants to know all about my life, about prom, about you. She expects me to pour out all my secrets even though she's been ignoring me for the past two weeks."
Over the last couple weeks Jeremy learned something about Simon. Simon didn't need a response. He just needed comfort. Jeremy took his hand and kissed his knuckles.
"Let's forget about going out. Want to watch a movie, get some ice cream and just laugh and cuddle and have a good time?"
Simon smiled. "You really do know just what to say and do."
"Come here." Jeremy said and he kissed Simon sweetly then he abruptly pulled away.
"What's the matter? Jer?"
"Your Mom is watching." Jeremy laughed.
"I don't care." Simon shook his head. "She wants to know how we are doing? Then I'll show her."
Simon pulled Jeremy in for a kiss and they both smiled like their lips were still connected.
"Ready?" Jeremy said after a few seconds.
"Yeah, yeah."
Jeremy starts to drive and he hands Simon the aux chord.
"What do you want to listen to?" Simon asks.
"Anything is fine." Jeremy smiled. "I love our relationship."
Simon looked over at Jeremy and took his free hand. "Me too."
Simon decides to put on some musicals and they both sing along to Take a Chance on Me from Mamma Mia.
Once they arrive at the Travers residence they walk inside and Simon is speech less.
