"Andy, shut up," Luke said as a frustrated sigh left his lips.

Andy had been going on and on about some new girl that had showed up yesterday at the University and left a door in his face. Frankly, hearing about this girl had been intriguing at the start of their conversation, seeing as hardly anyone would show up a quarter through the semester and still be accepted, unless she was some kind of Albert Einstein, Luke couldn't fathom a reason as to how she was allowed in. But after hearing Andy talk non stop about how rude, but also pretty, she was, he hoped he never met her.

"She just looked at me with these eyes, they were crazy, like they was dead or somethin'! But still mighty gorgeous!" Andy nodded to himself, like he was imagining her right before him. Luke shook his head. This idiot always tryin' to get messed up in things that aren't his business. But what else could he expect? Andy had been like this since they were young. Always sticking his nose where it didn't belong. Luke did that too, occasionally, but he was much more subtle about it.

Luke looked at his watch. It was a quarter to one, and would you look at that, they were late for their Computing Studies Course, again. They had been late for 5 lessons in a row, this month, and Luke knew they weren't going to be able to give any excuse to Professor McKnoy that they hadn't given before.

"Come on Andy, we're already five minutes late for class." Luke said, while already walking down the empty hall. Thank god Luke knew a short-cut that could wipe three minutes off their time that it took to reach the room they needed to go to.

"I'm comin', I'm comin'! Why are you rushing? We're gonna be late anyway, so what's the point?" At this, Luke grabbed the back of Andy's jumper and took off down the hall with Andy yelling profanities behind him, but Luke knew if he ran, they'd be there in less than a minute.

Luke slowed down outside the classroom, taking a deep breath, as if the run there didn't have him puffing for air. Pushing his light ginger hair back, not that it helped, seeing as it just dropped back down again, he knocked and opened the door when he heard the unmistakable sound of Professor McKnoy's angry voice saying 'come in'. Letting go of Andy's jumper, Luke stepped into the classroom with a sense confidence he did not have.

"Well, well, if it isn't Lucas Ameth and Andrew Jacobs, what brings two beings such as yourselves into my lesson?" He said this with a sarcastic tone, he knew why they were there, he just never liked Luke or Andy, neither of them could fathom a reason why.

"We were caught in traffic, ya heard about the car crash near Boyney bridge didn't ya? They say it was tragic, luckily no deaths!" Andy stepped around Luke. Either Andy was somehow trying to find out if this lie was believable, or if he had listened to the radio this morning. Luke had no idea. But apparently, Professor McKnoy did.

"Really Andrew? Wait- Oh, yes! I remember hearing that this morning! Why would you two be headin' that way to get to the University? You know there are other ways don't ya?" Andy nodded his head so fast Luke was afraid it would break off.

"Yes, Professor we know, but we had to stop at the Adin Highschool, to drop off Luke's sister's lunch-bag that she had gone and forgot, the silly girl!" He forced a laugh and turned to Luke with a look that said 'play along' so Luke gave a forced laugh as well and looked at the professor with an apologetic look.

"Yeah, sorry 'bout that Professor, you know it runs in the family," the Professor still looked suspicious, but gave an exasperated sigh.

"Fine then, sit down. But I'm warnin' you two, if ya late again you can stay out there. Maybe you'll be early for a change for the next lesson. Ha! Yeah, right," McKnoy mumbled.

The two looked around the room for two extra seats next to each other, but there weren't any. Just then, Andy let out a silent gasp, his mouth hung open as he looked at one of the tables that someone was sitting at, with her bag resting on the seat next to her.

"It's the girl! The green one! I mean, the green eyed one!" Andy shook Luke's arm, and Luke looked over to where Andy was trying to subtlety point. Looking down at her nails was a girl with long straight red hair, and as far as Luke could see, a black top with a red triangle in the middle, that matched the colour of her hair. That's the girl Andy is so obsessed about? Luke thought to himself. I mean, she's nice to look at, but-

He stopped, as if she had felt his stare, the girl looked up, her eyes were the brightest of greens, like the colour of healthy grass after it rained on a sunny day. But it was not just the colour that got to Luke, it was the fact that her eyes held so much age and little, to no emotion. Luke always heard people say the window to the soul is through the eyes, and he couldn't think of a better way to describe her eyes.

"Ameth and Jacobs! Sit down, right now! You-" McKnoy looked at Andy, "sit here," he pointed at a desk with another guy, who sat with his finger in his ear. Yikes.

"And you, Ameth, can sit there!" McKnoy pointed at Luke and then the seat next to the girl he was looking at before.

"Tell the new kid 'bout this school! In fact, from now on you two can be best buddies! Have fun," he made a sarcastic smile and continued to try and turn on the projector, that he was looking at before the boys walked into the room.

Luke quickly walked towards the girl, and looked at her bag, that was sitting where he was supposed to. He looked at her and said, "Uh, do you mind movin' ya bag? Please?" The girl gave him an uninterested look and slowly grabbed her bag and dropped it on the floor.

"Thanks. I'm Luke by the way, you are?" He didn't know why, but something about this girl seemed off, like she wasn't meant to be here, nobody wants to be here, but she seemed as if she shouldn't be, as though if she stayed here, bad think would happen.

He looked at her expectantly, she made an annoyed sound.

"I'm Mystique," the girl-Mystique-said shortly. Luke could tell she didn't want to talk, so, of course being himself, he had to.

"Well, Misty-" she narrowed her eyes at the given nickname, "-it's nice to meet you," Luke said with an innocent grin.

Something about this girl wasn't right, she looked about 18 but had the eyes of someone who had lived a long and hard life. Luke always loved finding out new things, and Misty's story seemed to have caught his attention, so he had decided to find out what it was.

And maybe, if Luke hadn't snooped around, then maybe, things wouldn't have ended the way they did.

Hey guys! Before we continue I just want to mention that the town of Redlake, the Mira University, the Adin Highschool and the Boyney bridge, ARE NOT REAL. Maybe somewhere in the world they are, but in Dublin, Ireland, and Izzy's imagination, THEY ARE NOT.
