"Hello there, I'm Alex", he says to me. "Iman", I reply back in a cool tone. "Are all the girls here as beautiful as you?" he says smoothly. "So you're that type", I sarcastically replied.
"I'm sorry. I guess that was a pretty lame pickup line. I could use a friend since I am new and all", he says nonchalantly.
"Well, I will gladly be your friend", I say. 'Ring', the class bell sounds off. "See ya around", he says. "Same to you", I say back.Later that Day*
"Come on you got this Iman!", yelled coach Cunningham. Today my school held a track meet. Yes, I am on the track team. I never really did bad in track, but I wasn't the #1 runner. That title belongs to David Baxter. No one has ever out ran him. David plays many sports. He plays basketball, football, and soccer. So, it is safe to say that he is quite the active one. He has the reputation as the 'Star' of the school.
All of a sudden I feel a burst of adrenaline, and my speed quickens. In a flash, I run past David. That can't be. I was just way behind him and now I am way ahead of him.
"Good job miss Vaughn. I just need you to do that when the track meet starts, which is in 30 minutes", coach says.
"I agree. That was pretty impressive Miss Vaughn", David says mischievously.
I head over to the water cooler and grab a bottle of water. Then I feel a hand grab my wrist and pull me behind the bleachers.
"What the hell David", I say to him. "What was that? Where you trying to make me look bad?", he questions. "No, I honestly don't know what happened back there myself", I say. "Well I guess Ill have to teach you a lesson about showing me up.
David trails kisses up my arm and on my neck. David picks me up and puts me around his waist. "David stop", I say in panic.
"You wouldn't want anyone to know about our situation would you", he says in a threatening tone. "You don't want me to ruin your little miss perfect routine do you. I'll just paint you out to be the bad guy and say you came onto me", David says. David then pushes my back into the bleachers and lifts my shirt up. He presses his hand into my side until I start to feel pain. "David stop", I scream.
Just then, David flies across the open space behind the bleachers. With that, I took off running."Where have you been Iman?" My coach asks. I went to the bathroom", I reply. "Ok, everyone. Get prepared", he says.
"Ready ok! WE ARE THE NORTHEAST LIONS W.. Ugh! I can't believe this girl just ran into me and totally messed up our cheer", said Tori the head cheer captain. "Just move along", she says with an attitude.
That girl has a real stank attitude. She thinks just because she is head cheer captain that she is all that. Whatever I don't even have time for for this bull.
"Yes Iman! Go Go Go!" My coach yells. I'm flash pass everyone on the track finishing in first.
After I receive my medal, I take pictures with some people. "You were amazing, but I wouldn't have guessed that you were a runner", says the voice behind me. I turn around to find Alex standing there.
"Hey Alex", I say. "I'm actually thinking about joining the track team". "How fast are you"? I ask. "Very", he says in a cocky tone. "I challenge you to a race", he says. Even though I have never been the top runner in our school, I am still very fast despite this new found energy . "Challenge accepted", I reply.
I sit my stuff down and head to the track. "Ready, set, go", I say. Both of us are speeding around the track. We gain attention from everyone else that is still here. We have fun as we are racing each other. Starting off I am in 1st, but Alex quickly advances. Then I advance. We were back and forth until the point that we were both in sync at times. We were both trying to push the limit until one of us advances, but neither of us were giving in. We were like lighting. We quickly flashed around the track, and neither of us ever getting tired or slowing down.
We crossed the finish line at the same time. "You weren't lying when you said you were fast", I say not even panting. "You are remarkable", he says. "Hello, but might I ask who this is", the coach interrupts us. "I'm Alexander CarMichael", he says. "How would you like to join the track team?" the coach asks. "Yes", Alex says. "Be at practice on Monday", says the coach. "Guess I'll see you Monday",I say. "You to", he says. "See ya later", I say as I walk off.
As I head to my car, a man in a black hoodie approaches me. "This is for you", the mysterious man says. I look down at the envelope the man handed me. It has a red seal on it. "Who is this from?" I ask. But no one is there. The man had disappeared. I stand there confused. I guess things are never going to stop getting weird.
