The scream of the crowd roaring in anger nearly busted my ear drums. I could understand that we were losing the football game, but Jeez! Although on the other end I could totally agree. Our boys were losing forty to six. And everybody in our small town were huge football fans. Everybody, but me. I could handle one lost game, but unfortunately everyone else cannot. You would think that someone had shut down our local Walmart.
"Run, boy, run!" John, one of our well known physicians, screamed. He was currently yelling at the boy running down the field. It didn't help any, because he was tackled, which started another round of cursing from the crowd. I sighed and checked my watch. My best friend, Celeste, was supposed to be at the game twenty minutes ago. I checked my phone for any messages, and sure enough, there was one from her.
C- Hey, sorry but I can't make it tonight. Dad is being stuck up again. I'll make it up to you. Promise.
To say I was mad, was an understatement. I understood that her dad wasn't in the best of moods, but she was my ride home. It meant that I would have to call my brother, Felix, to come get me. Great.
I stood up and walked past the roaring crowd, and to the parking lot. I sent a text saying I understood, and went to my brother's contact, and hit call. It rang three times before he finally picked up.
"Celeste canceled, didn't she?" His words were in a matter of fact tone.
"Yes," I stated simply.
"I'm on my way, but it will take me thirty minutes to get there. I'm at Jeff's house," he said and hung up. I sighed and looked at the score board.
The game was over. We lost forty to six, and everybody was getting ready to leave with grumpy faces.
Great. Looks like I'm going to be here by myself.
I leaned against the brick wall of the gymnasium, watching the cars as they pulled out and drove off. I glared at anybody who looked at me.
Twenty minutes later and the parking lot was completely empty. I thanked the lord that the field lights were still on. Only ten more minutes. I kept checking my watch and counting down. I never noticed, when riding by the school at night, how creepy it is here at night. I felt paranoid. I kept thinking someone is going to kidnap me.
"Ophelia," I about jumped out of my pants at the sound of that voice. I spun around to see Derrek, the school's druggie, standing there with his hands in his pockets, staring at me. He was known for his drugs all around town, but none of the cops were ever able to find evidence to put him in jail. Everyone at school avoided him, besides the other drug heads. To be stuck alone with him, at night at the school, with his hard, dark brown eyes staring me down, was unnerving.
I took a small step back from him, realizing that he was a lot closer than he should have been.
"What are you doing here, all alone?" he said and put an emphasis on the alone part. His voice sent chills up my arms. Not the good kind. I wanted to tell him that he should go away, but I wasn't going to be rude.
"O-Oh, um, my friend was my ride and she didn't show up. But my brother will be here in a few minutes," I rushed out, making sure to put out that my brother was on his way.
"Well then, maybe I can wait with you too. I don't want a nice looking girl out here all alone," he said and stepped closer, and it was just my luck that I bumped into the wall. His hot hands started to roam all over my body. Bile rose up my throat at what was happening.
"You know, Ophelia, I've always wanted you. You intrigue me in a way that makes all my violent thoughts surface when I think about another guy around you. I want you to myself. I always have. Do you want me?" He said in a low voice and pressed his whole, disgusting body to mine. I could feel his hard on pressed against my stomach, and I wanted to throw up. I wanted to scream for help, but no one was around to hear me. Tears started to stream down my face. As if to add onto my bad luck, the field lights suddenly shut down.
"No, I don't want you!" With what power I did have, I laid my hands across his chest a pushed his tall figure away from me. I didn't have time to catch a breath, because my legs started to run. I ran as fast as I could. My legs carried me around the gymnasium. I knew I couldn't outrun him, but I was going to try to get somewhere to hide.
I didn't even reach the bleachers before I was tackled to the concrete. I wanted to cry out from defeat, but I was currently stunned. My head had made contact with the concrete. The world was spinning as I looked into the face of my enemy. My limbs wouldn't move because Derrek was holding them down, and he was a lot stronger than he looked.
I looked at him with the most hateful glare I could muster up, "My brother will be here in less than ten minutes."
He laughed. "It will take me less than ten for this." He stated with lust in his voice, and he started to unbuckle his pants. I sobbed into the air as he tore my pants from my legs. I tried to kick my legs, but it was no use. He had his calves pinning them down, and was holding my hands with one large hand.
My eyes widened and I cried out as he started to thrust into me. This was my worst nightmare!
Why is this happening to me? What did I do wrong?
I screamed as he continued. My head was reeling. I couldn't believe what was happening. His other hand slapped against my mouth to keep me quiet. My shoulders were shaking as I sobbed into his hand. I was being raped, and there was no one to help me. The pain was unbearable, and I could feel my heart being torn to pieces. No one was saving me like in the movies.
After he finished, I wanted to cry with relief, but I didn't have time to because I felt him being ripped off of me. Whoever it was started to lay into Derrek. I still cried though because no matter what they were doing now, it wouldn't change what had already happened. They were too late.
The grunts and hits continued for a few more minutes. They stopped and I heard footsteps hurrying over. My eyes opened for a few seconds to see my brother with tears running down his face. He was heaving with anger and worry. I started crying harder and he dropped down beside me. He cradled me to him and took his hoodie off and wrapped it around me.
"I'm so sorry I didn't get here sooner. I'm so sorry. I'll never let anyone hurt you again. I promise. Never again," he sobbed and all I could do was nod. He took out his phone and dialed the police. I laid my head against his shoulder and stared at Derrek's unconscious body. Tears blurred my vision once again, and I let darkness consume me.
