"Waaaaaaaa!"
I groaned and turned over in bed and looked at the baby bed. Then I looked at the alarm clock on the table beside me.
2:30 a.m.
"Ugh," I moaned as I slid my feet to the floor. I walked over to the baby bed, and stared down at my son, Aiden. His little face was scrunched up in anger. He looked up at me and stopped crying. He started giggling, and I couldn't help but smile at his playfulness.
"Hey little man, are you hungry? Do you want mamma to feed you?" I cooed at him. He reached his hands up and clapped once as if saying yes. I smiled and picked his little body up. I cradled him and walked to the door, and opened it. Everybody was asleep, so I tiptoed, but it was no use because Aiden started giggling and laughing loudly. I smiled in amusement and hurried to the kitchen. I reached into the fridge, grabbing an already prepared bottle. I put it into a bowl of hot water and waited for it to warm up. I tickled Aiden while we waited for the bottle.
"Hey," Felix stated appearing in the doorway. I glanced at him before checking the bottle again. I turned back to him.
"Did we wake you?" I asked.
"Yes, but I don't mind. I need to talk to you anyway." I nodded for him to continue, before grabbing the bottle and handing it to Aiden. He gripped at it with his fingers, but I still had to hold it to place the nipple in his mouth. If he had done it, he would have lost an eye. He closed his eyes as he ate.
"Derrek gets out of prison today," Felix stated in a low voice. I knew it already but my body stilled anyway, fear running through my veins. Even though I knew he only got a year and six months in prison, I didn't know it was going to be this early. It felt like just yesterday we were standing in the court room. They didn't have enough video footage, but after I had thought we were going to lose the case, test results came back. They had inspected my woman parts and took samples to see if his semen was indeed in there. Which it was.
The doctors also gave me the information that I was pregnant.
To say my family was pissed was an understatement. My dad, being a police officer, felt very committed to putting Derrek behind bars. My mother, on the other hand, was ready to commit murder. The worst part was that the whole town knew about everything the following morning. Me being the very secretive, quiet girl, didn't like it at all. Everybody treated me like normal though. Some of them even started to be nicer to me. I could tell they had pity, but it was nice of them. My brother was so wrapped up in guilt, that it took forever for him to let me be away from him. He is still very anxious about me being a room away from him, but he is better.
After Aiden was born, I didn't even try to hide him. I took him with me everywhere. Everybody loved him. Girls from school were all over him when I would take him to town with me. Everybody was also angry at Derrek.
Derrek's parents even showed up at the hospital after I had Aiden. His mom was crying and begging me to not hate them and to let them be a part of Aiden's life. I agreed as long as they promised not to let Derrek around me and Aiden. They agreed and ever since then, they had come over every Sunday.
"I won't let him near you both. I guess getting my schedule changed to match yours was a good idea," Felix's voice pulled me out of my thoughts. I nodded in silence and looked down at Aiden. He was looking at Felix as he drank the milk. Gurgling, he reached his tiny hand in Felix's direction. My big, manly brother melted, and started goofing off for his nephew. He made funny monkey faces, and me and Aiden started giggling. I handed him to Felix to go and fix me some cereal. I moaned when the little pieces of Cocoa Pebbles hit my tongue.
Heaven.
Felix chuckled at me and sat beside me at the bar. I looked over at him with Aiden cradled in his arms.
"Thank you," I whispered.
He looked at me with confusion. "For what?"
"For being for there for me, and not abandoning me through this," I said gesturing to the baby currently asleep. Felix took his free arm and grabbed me and my barstool. He slid me closer to him, and wrapped his arm firmly around my shoulders, pulling me close.
He pulled back smiling, "I will always be here for you." His smile dropped, and he looked down. "I used to think that night never should have happened, but then I think about where we are now. And I realize that good things came out of it. We are closer than we have ever been, but more importantly, you have a son. I hate that you were hurt, and I wish that I could have saved you."
I smiled and nodded in understanding. Because I did understand. Before I was raped, Felix and I bickered alot, and now we only do it playfully. My son would not even have been thought of if that night never happened.
I finished my cereal, then took Aiden and we went back to sleep.

*beep *beep *beep
I groaned and pried my eyes open. My hand reached over and slapped the off button on my alarm. I slid out of the bed and noticed that Aiden was sound asleep. I sighed in relief. I did not want to deal with him while trying to get myself ready for school.
I quietly walked to my closet and picked out a pair of skinny jeans, a light grey long sleeve and my converse. I ran a brush through my long, dark hair, and grabbed Aiden's diaper bag. I was taking him to his baby sitter while at school. The old woman was in love with him, and plus she didn't charge. After packing everything I think he would have needed, I grabbed a onsie and a pair of socks from his drawer in the dresser. I threw them on the bed and walked to his crib. I picked him up trying not to wake him from his sleep. I changed his diaper and onsie and put his socks on.
I grabbed him, his diaper bag and my backpack and walked out our room. When we reached the kitchen, I waved goodbye to my mom and dad. Felix and us headed outside to my car. Ever since that night, my parents insisted on me having my own car.
We arrived at Aiden's babysitter's house and dropped him off. We waved goodbye to the old woman holding my son, and headed off to school.
