Serena, the bubbly redhead, was the best distraction for the remainder of the school day. The downside was that she also did not stop talking, and she attracted a lot of attention as we moved through the halls. Other than that, I was enjoying her company. She was the funniest person I had ever met, and my brother was clearly infatuated with her seeing as he could not take his eyes off her for even a few seconds.
Currently we were leaving fifth period, and Serena was showing us to the cafeteria. The hallway was already empty because we were a bit slow in getting out of the classroom.
"So, when we get in there, you will feel a bit crowded because there are hundreds of kids eating at the same time, so stay close. Or you will get lost," Serena insisted. We nodded to her and she opened the double doors leading to the cafeteria. My eyes widened at the amount of people surrounding the various tables. There were even more in the line waiting for food that I even wondered if there was enough room for everyone. Serena must have noticed my hesitation because she grabbed my hand and pulled me along.
If there is anything in this world that I can't stand, it is feeling trapped. At the moment, I feel like this cafeteria is inescapable.
As we stood waiting and I nervously looked around, the line got smaller. Serena hooked her elbow with mine and smiled at me amusingly, "Calm down, they have an outside eating area." When she said that, I let out a deep breath. Alex and Felix just laughed at me, and after a lot of glaring, I joined them. When we finally got to eat, I started to think I could actually enjoy lunch. After a while I reached down into my purse to check my phone for messages from Patricia. After digging around for too many minutes searching for my phone, I began to get worried. It was not in my purse. I checked my jean pockets, but they were not there either. Serena and the guys seemed to notice my frustrating wrestle with my purse.
"What's wrong, Lia?" Felix asked using my nickname, trying to calm me down.
"It's gone! My phone is gone! I put it in my purse pocket when I got to school, but it is not there now," I stood up and began to pace. "What if he did this, Felix? What are we going to do?" Serena was clearly confused, but stood up and took my shoulders in her hands.
"I do not know what is happening, but calm down and think. Are you sure you put it in your purse?" I nodded on the verge of tears. "Ok, then someone most likely took it. Do not worry though, you can use my phone to call your company to get them to shut it off." My stomach was churning unsteadily as I took her phone from her.
First, I dialed Patricia's number. After I explained what had happened and told her to lock the doors and stay safe, I dialed my own number to see if someone would pick up. Alex sat next to me while I did, which comforted me tremendously. The phone rang three times before the line went dead.
I stared at the phone for a few minutes. "Someone hung up."
Felix took the phone from me and dialed the phone company, asking them to shut the phone down completely. After they assured that they shut it down, I prayed that whoever had it, didn't get what they had wanted before we had shut it down. Who knows how long the phone was gone.
"Don't worry Lia, I will take you to go get a new one after school. They probably weren't able to get in the phone anyway. Your passcode is way too complicated for even the best hacker to figure out," Felix laughed and I laughed with him.
I calmed myself down and sat down to finish my lunch. It wasn't even five minutes before Serena started cracking cheesy jokes to make everyone laugh. I also noticed that Alex had scooted closer to me than he was before. I looked up at him, and he just smiled his dimply smile.

Mary had a little lamb, a little lamb, a little lamb,
Mary had a little lamb,
that was white as snow.Aiden was laying beside me playing with his feet while I hummed and did my homework. Every time one of his feet slipped out of his hand it would hit my bed, causing my book to shake. After school, Alex and Felix went to go play video games at Alex's house, so at the moment we were here all by ourselves.
Unable to read any longer, I closed my book and went to my closet. I picked out a tank top and shorts for me and a pair of swimming trunks for Aiden. I grabbed Aiden and changed him, and I set him down so I could change. I grabbed my new phone, the sunblock, and some towels.
"You ready to go swimming with momma?" I cooed at Aiden and scooped him up while walking outside. He gurgled and reached for the ocean. When we got close enough to the water, I laid out a towel and put my things on it. I smothered Aiden in sunblock and put a little on my nose. The water was cool but pretty warm when I stepped into it. Just on the edge of the water, I put Aiden down in the sand. The water came up to his butt. He giggled as the water went into the sea and came back to touch him. I took out my phone and started to video him.
After a while, Aiden and I were playing in the sand. I had the camera on us as we played and laughed.
"Aww, Aiden your such a big boy to help momma build a sand castle!" I cooed even though our "sandcastle" just looked like a bunch of sand piled together.
"Mo-mmmm-a." My eyes snapped to Aiden, not sure if I heard him right. I felt overjoyed as I rewatched the video to hear him say my name. I grabbed up our stuff and ran to Alex's house.
"Felix!" I ran through the front door calling for my brother. I found him and Alex in the living room. They looked at me worriedly.
"What happened? Is everything okay?" Felix questioned. I nodded eagerly and went to sit in between them on the couch.
"He said 'momma'," I stated giddily. I then took out my phone and watched their faces as they heard him say it. I grinned as I heard him say it again in the video.
After we watched the video for the hundredth time, I looked at Aiden asleep on my chest and a tear slipped out. He opened his eyes, as if feeling my emotional state, and put his hand on my chest. He stretched and yawned in the cutest way. His blue eyes looked up at me and he smiled.
"Mommaaaaaa," he said with a gurgle.
I laughed and hugged him to my chest. He started to get aggravated though, so I let him sit up. He giggled and reached forward and grabbed Alex's face.
The rest of the night consisted with of all of us trying to teach him words. Without any luck.
