The day went by uneventful. We finished unpacking and putting away and to say we were exhausted would be a definite understatement. Mom and Dad had left an hour ago to enroll us in the school. Me, Alex and Felix just finished putting things away. Our entire house looked cleaner than it normally would. It was usually messy. I know that predictably, our house shouldn't be messy. But even with my mom and me, it never got cleaned. I'm just as bad as my dad and brother. I make messes wherever I go. My mom goes behind us and cleans, but our house is always a pigsty. So seeing it so clean surprised me.
We all flopped on the couch and I let out a sigh of relief as my butt made impact with the fluffy cushion. Ever since my pregnancy, I had been getting back pains. So standing up, moving around, and bending over started to make my back ache.
"Ughhhh. My back," I said with a groan, sitting up and stretching it to make it feel better. No such luck.
"Your still getting back cramps? Is that even normal?" The question came from Felix, who had an adorable worried look on his face.
"The doctor said they should go away after a few months. But being that Aiden was a bit bigger than normal babies, I guess it's normal that it last longer."
Aiden had definitely taken a lot out of me when I was giving birth. He was bigger than some babies, but he wasn't too big. He was a little over seven pounds, and it was really painful pushing him out. Of course, it was definitely worth it.
Feeling Alex's stare on me, I stood up. "He needs to eat so I'm going to go feed him then I'll make some lunch for us." I walked off. When I made it to the top of the stairs, I looked into my room and saw that Aiden was sitting up. My eyes widened and I smiled because I didn't expect him to be up. I guess he knew it was time to eat. He looked at me with his chocolate eyes in wonder. I leaned over the railing and made a face at him to which he started giggling. His giggles were so loud and it put the biggest smile on my face. I continued to make funny faces at him, until he farted. He looked really startled at first, then he started to wail. I laughed so hard. I had always watched that happen in videos on YouTube, but I had never seen it in person. My knees went weak. I was clutching my stomach in pain. Tears from the laughter were rolling down my face.
Noticing my laughing fit, Aiden stared at me and started giggling. His hands clapped for me to pick him up, to which I obliged. I grabbed his play mat and a few toys in which he stole from me. I walked out of the room, and to the living room. The guys stopped their conversation and looked up at us.
I guess they heard us laughing, because Alex said, "What was so funny?"
"He farted." I said and fell into another round of giggles. Aiden was too busy playing with his stuffed bear to realise his mommy was laughing again. Alex looked quite amused and my stomach did somersaults which made my giggles die out. I placed the mat on the floor along with his toys, and then I placed him beside the toys. His eyes lit up in joy as he started to crawl to the toys. I left Felix and Alex to play with him, and went in the kitchen to make lunch and a bottle. I had started to give him a little baby food, but he never ate more than a few bites so I had decided to wait.
As I waited for the bottle to heat, I thought about school being the next day. I hadn't wanted to start early, but mom said that she didn't want my grades to go down. My stomach flipped upside down as I thought of a new school. Me and Felix had only ever gone to one school. So the thought of a new one, during senior year, terrified me. The only thing pushing me through, was the fact that Felix would be with me. And maybe Alex.
Alex. His yummy green eyes made me melt into a puddle of Ophelia. When he looked at me, my insides turned to jello and I was unable to talk without stuttering. I just met him and already he had a huge impact on me. None of the guys at my other school made me feel the way Alex has made me feel in less than twenty four hours. I have never had a boyfriend, not by choice either. The guys never really asked me out after the town found out about my bun in the oven. I guess they just didn't want commitment. But before the Derrek incident, I was still only asked out once or twice. And it never went past a first date. Because of Felix. If Felix didn't like the guy, he did everything he could to scare him off. Which worked all the time. I guess that's why nobody really ever asked me.
