Chapter 4

Amna's POV

I pushed myself up as the forsaken doorbell rang. My aunt's soft cries I could hear from the bloody floor.

I opened the door with shards of glass still piercing my skin, blood dripping from my arms and legs and tears glistening my face. The only thing I bothered fixing was the new scarf atop my head since Walid took my other.

Walid stood before me and I watched as he fisted his hands at the sight of me. What had gotten him so furious?

He silently grabbed me by my wrist and dragged me with him. I cried out in pain as the shard in my hand dug deeper, but he ignored me.

"L-let me go!" I repeated again. His hand gripped my wrist tighter and I winced. He remained silent and impassive. I choked on sobs as he pushed me back in his obnoxiously beautiful car.

He put my seatbelt on for me and when he saw my action to try and escape him, he glared. Why was he the one furious? I was the one that faced my aunt, I was the one being forced in to marriage and I was the one stuck with him!

"I called you" he quietly spoke.

I ignored him and after waiting for my response for a bit. He softly tugged at my hand to face him, I winced as it ached.

"I was mad because if you had answered my call. I would have protected you and you wouldn't have gotten hurt. Why didn't you fucking return my call?"

I looked at him in the eye and glared right back. "Cursing is a sin and I was too busy bleeding to 'return your call' " I bitterly retorted.

"We'll get you to a hospital in no time" he said almost like he cared.

We pulled up at Mërcy hospital in no more than thirty minutes. I was scared as we went in, it was a silly thing to be scared of but I couldn't handle being in a hospital.

He chuckled and pulled me close to him "You haven't gotten over your little fear, have you? I remember you couldn't even handle going to the nurse's office".

I pulled away from him as he led me to a doctor. I didn't even get to speak as he basically answered everything.

"Are their any female physicians here?" I watched Walid almost growl out.

"No, I am the only doctor available at the moment but do not worry I will take good care of your wife" Dr.Desmond charmingly smiled at me.

I came to correct him and say we were mere acquaintances when Walid squeezed my arm in warning.

"Would you be okay with your husband being in h-"

"Of course, it will be no problem with her"

I hesitantly nodded my head. Its not like he gave me much of a choice.

"Ok Amna, life your arms up a bit. I just need to see if there's any other part of your body that is bruised or bleeding"

By this time, the grip Walid had on my waist was unbreakable.

"I don't think that will be necessary. May I just go to this hospital's pharmacy and purchase some antiseptic spray, bandages and painkillers?" my 'husband' requested.

Although his sentence was seen as a question, his tone was of finality. Without waiting for the doctors reply, he dragged me out of the room and to the pharmacy.

I knew no other man that could get away with taking a registered patient out of a hospital and not here a word said against him.

How did Walid attain so much power and wealth?
