I lived in a world people think is made up. With magical beings and fairytales waiting to happen. Well I am waiting for my fairytale to happen. Walking with humans in everyday lives are mermaids, werwolves, vampires, fairies, and so much more. Any mythic beings you can think of walk the streets with you.

As you probably think I'm crazy, think about it. People always to afraid of water because of childhood nightmares. Mermaids. People who seem to be very strong and senses are great for hunting. Werewolves. People who don't get outside much and like to stay inside and watch TV. Vampires. People who are too inhumanly happy and always bring smiles to your faces. Fairies. Mythical beings surround you. Just look around.

Now you must be wondering how I know all this stuff. Well I looked it up and did tons of research. But the main reason I know is because I am one of them. A mermaid. My name is Muriel, which stands for shining sea. I am 21 years old and living the college dream. I am working to be a marine biologist to study all about ocean life even though I already know most of it. I plan to start an organization to help out other sea animals in danger. I hope to make the wo...

My laptop screen is shut and I jump up in fright. My eyes are wide as I look up. My marine biologist teacher looks at me with an annoyed look. I smile meekly at her and sink into my chair as everyone snickers at me.

"I do not remember you signing up to take a writing class. If you wanted to so badly major in that next time join it," she scoffs at me and turns around on her heels. The clicking of her heels could be heard in the silence of the room.

Just as she turns around to continue her lesson the ringing of the bell goes off signaling classes for the afternoon are over. I sigh internally as we all start to pack our things.

"Since I was so rudely interrupted and didn't get to finish what I was teaching," I could just feel her glare, "I will email you all a link and I want you all to study it for the pop quiz Monday." Everyone groans and my head bows down in embarrassment.

I gather all of my thing into my backpack and head for the door. As I pass people still packing up their things, they all thank me ever so gratefully for the pop quiz. On the bright side she told us their was a pop quiz. I head down the hall ways of the college as everyone is scrambling to get home early. I hang my head down as I go against the current and out the back door.

Okay I might have lied about the great college dream but everything else is true. I am mermaid and all mythical beings live around us. Sadly I don't have much friends to hang around with and my life is ever so boring. I like to write and fantasize about how my life should be. Someday I do hope to help marine life but I also want to write "fiction" on all the mythical beings.

I push past everyone rushing for the front doors I finally make it to the back. No one is around the back since there is ally way leading to a junk yard and teacher parking. I push open the glass doors and start down the ally way. The light flickers above me and I hold my arms around my waist.

I always walk down the ally way and it always scares me. I know if a human tries to attack me I can just use my mermaid powers to get away but it is still scary. As I break past the dark ally way I sigh as the junkyard and parking lot break my view. I smile and a bounce to my feet leads me past the teacher parking lot and to the side walk. Many people are walking back and forth trying to get to their destinations. You can hear people talking on phones, children crying, and people arguing. Normal life in the city.

As I join the wave of people I head for my apartment not to far from the school. My shoulders get bumped multiple of times but I simply ignore them and keep walking. But something catches my eyes. A man has his head down and typing on his phone. Up ahead a women with coffee is also typing on her phone. They are going to make a huge collision. That's not what makes me stop and look but what the man is. Like werewolves sensing other werewolves, mythical beings can sense their own kind. My eyes widen as I push through the crowd. They get closer and I push faster.
