Chapter 5: The crazy elements girl

~Ellens P.O.V~

I made eye contact with the captain right after he got off the phone and signalled for him to come over to me, now's not the time nor place to be having a catch up I thought to myself as he made his way over

"Cap this is gonna sound super weird but you have to trust me, right around this corner there is a bunch of invaders, I need you to stand at the end of the hall facing them with your shield up" I whispered to him making my already muffled voice from my mask sound even quieter, he looked at me warily but nod anyway

"Yes ma'am"

"on the count of three" I whispered my count down before shouting go, Steve ran to the end of the hall and held his shield up and a group of three started running at him but before they could get too close I threw a ball of fire at Steve's shield which ricochets off it burns the first invader and momentarily blinds the other two, giving both Steve and I a chance to knock them out and tie them up.

"We make quite the team.....I'm sorry what's your name?" Steve asks me, I just chuckle at him before replying

"Well captain that's for me to know and for you... not to find out" I say before winking at him, knowing my smug smile is hidden only by my mask

"What should I call you?"

"Well the media seem to call me Elemental, so that I guess. Enough small talk stripes, let's get back to work" I laugh a little bit at the nickname I gave the man before focusing again.

Steve and I repeated the routine that we seemed to master at least another four times before I see him, I should've known Buck would make an appearance I think to myself and while staring at him from across the 'battlefield' he turns and catches my eye for a second before I look away, Cap comes up behind me and taps me on the shoulder

"Hate to break it to you Elemental but he's accounted for" Steve says before quickly making his way over to bucky

"Oh trust me, I know" I say quietly to myself before throwing my hand back to punch the presence I felt over my shoulder.

The battle went on for a good 30 minutes all the while I avoided Bucky, I helped Cap, Tony and Clint, Clint being my favourite as I got to use my fire to create flaming arrows and my wind to accelerate them as they travelled through the air, when we were finally done I was about to leave when Tony grabbed my hand

"Hey, crazy elements girl" I interrupt him

"Elemental"

"Sure Elemental, you were good out there, do you want to come back and join us for a drink or two" everyone's eyes were on me, my hair still silver from last controlling the wind, I thought for a while What if Bucky recognises me? Ah come on Ellen he didn't recognise you when you were both fighting for the same team, he won't recognise you now this internal monologue went on for a minute before I made my mind up

"Sure why not!" Now that I said that I've just got to focus on not letting my hair change back to normal or that will really give me away. We went back to the tower and I tried my best to keep as quiet as possible. I was getting on really well with Natasha and then she said something i was not expecting at all.

"I see you're a fellow red head"

"Wait what?" I had relaxed and let my guard down I didn't even realise my hair go back to normal, I start to panic a little No no no! He cant find out like this!!

"Ellen?" Bucky asks as he looks at me from across the room and starts to walk towards me

"Who? I really must dash" I turn to leave but Bucky grabs my arm and turns me around
