THE TWO boys were at school in a matter of minutes. jeongguk was still dazed and sleepy eyed, eyes half lidded as he struggled to keep his head upright. taehyung had kept his word and awoken the boy mere minutes before they set off for school, helping the younger dress, before carrying him out to the car and laying him in the front seat. there was a thick fog swirling around them as they walked into school. jeongguk hoped it would have burnt off by noon - he had art all afternoon and found that there was a lack of inspiration when days were clouded over.
he sat with his knees pressed to his chest, arms wrapped around them as they pulled into the car park at school. taehyung glanced at him, features softening at the view. there was an orange tinge to the light; a late sunrise to say it was spring. it highlighted jeongguk's cheeks and the top of his nose, his eyelids fluttering. taehyung couldn't help but smile.
"gguk?"
the small boy turned to him, tilting his head as he opened his eyes fully, humming a soft 'mm?'. taehyung grinned, mouth pulling into a rectangle as he ruffled the younger's hair. seeing his ggukie like this, so small and fragile - innocent - it made his heart wrench and his palms clam up ever so slightly. he could almost feel his skin tingling and his toes curling as the younger let out a soft giggle, cheeks heating the smallest bit.
this was a regular occurance; taehyung calling jeongguk just to take in the younger's beauty. taehyung thought that jeongguk was the most beautiful thing on the face of the earth, finding it a blessing that he was the one to make the younger smile each and every day.
he thought he was so lucky.
"nothing. thank you, baby." taehyung muttered, smile growing impossibly wider as jeongguk nuzzled into the gap between his knees, legs still pulled up to his chest. his small hands curling into fists.
"issokay!"
taehyung swore his heart burst then and there.

jeongguk was now curled up on taehyung's lap, the other boy cradling him protectively. it was their lunch break and, luckily for the younger, the fog had cleared rather quickly, rolling away and leaving a sunny, dewy day. the two were sat on the bleachers overlooking the track just at the back of school. whilst they waited for their friends, jeongguk and taehyung had been sharing lazy kisses. the type where they're barely kissing, more so just brushing their lips together, pressing them together every now and then.
taehyung could practically feel jeongguk falling asleep again, shaking him awake again every so often.
"ggukie, baby," he mumbled, nudging the younger's head with his nose gently. the other let out a soft whine, pressing his face into taehyung's shoulder. "you can't go to sleep, princess." taehyung chuckled lowly, running his hand through jeongguk's hair. jeongguk let out another whine, grip around taehyung's waist tightening.
