Running. That's all i've been doing, running away from everything. I've been searching for a place to call home for so long. The kingdom of Corona, after being in the Mackintosh kingdom, is my only hope. The kingdom here is my next stop, "Check over there, they couldn't have gotten far." My back was pressed against a boulder covered in foliage, as i scooted against it i fell backwards through the vines. I quickly backed away and covered my mouth to hide my breathing. "Let's head back, i'll let Quirin know what happened."

Footsteps fade away and soon silence fills the air, i uncover my mouth and sigh flopping backwards on the ground. My breath heaving and sweat dripped down my forehead, finally slowing my heart I looked around at the strange cave I'm in. Picking myself up from the ground and dusting myself off, " Dammit i dropped all of the eggs i had." I walked further towards the end of the cave, i blinked rapidly and let my eyes adjust to the light, a large tower sitting in the middle of a clearing with a waterfall behind it. It seemed abandoned upon closer inspection, an entrance to the tower sat in the back of it. I readied myself pulling my dagger out of my boot and held it tightly in case I needed to use it.

Marching up the stone steps of the tower felt haunting, like something was telling me i wasn't allowed to leave. I came up to a trap door at the top of the steps and pushed it open, a large living area filled with tossed over furniture presented itself to me. Dimly lit by the sun light coming in from the one window a gentle gust of wind swept through the tower making it slightly cooler. Something terrible must've happened here, chains and broken glass lay on the floor with a long trail of brown hair.

Casting my eyes away from the floor i carefully walked up a set of stairs to a room filled with paintings and over growth. The paintings are faded and the drapes are torn, many animals have come and gone. Each painting depicts a young blonde girl running with flowers around her, I had seen more paintings of the same girl as i walked up to the room. I turned around and walked back down to the main room, once i reached the bottom i heard a light creak coming from the room. Gripping my dagger tighter, i slowly walked around to find the source of the noise.

I looked at the tossed over chair and found a small frog with its hand stuck under the broken off leg. I sighed in relief while it croaked with fright, "Hey, it's okay. I got you little guy don't be scared." I carefully lifted the wood off of the little frog and it hopped away from me letting out a squeaky screech, trying to scare me off. Scoffing in amusement I sat cross legged on the floor, propping my arm leaning into my hand, "Are you goin' to be scared or are you goin' to join me?"

The squeaks came to a stop as the frog tilted its head up to me in question. "Well? Are you comin'?" With a light croak the frog hops towards me cautiously still unsure of my intentions. "We need to leave before it gets dark little guy," Crouching down with a hand extended to the frog, he hops on looking up at me. Gently placing the frog on my shoulder I walked to the stairs i came up from and walked back down, "Seems we'll be keeping each other company then, what should i call ya little friend?" The frog croaked in response.

"I'll just have to come up with one huh?" After leaving the mysterious tower with my new travel buddy i went into town to see if i could find something to eat.

...

"Quirin, we need to talk." Hugo and his daughter Beatrice stood in the doorway. "Hi Varian." She shyly waved to me and i smiled back to her politely. "I'm assuming something has happened for you to be visiting this early in the morning, what is it?" My dad, stood arms crossed. "I went to help Malachi on the farm as Milo had his hands full with the sheep, and we found that someone had been stealing eggs from the hens and nicking food from the harvest." Dad uncrossed his arms and sat down. "when did this start happening?" I continued eating my breakfast and listened. "Just today, someone wearing a cloak had fled when we caught them in the middle of taking more eggs. We chased them a bit of ways into the forest before we lost sight of them." Dad sighed, "Have Marius stand watch tonight, Varian and i have to visit the market for materials." With a nod of his head Hugo turned to leave, "Come along Beatrice." With that said they left.
