"Maia has a boy," Austin said as soon as we entered the apartment.
"Oooo!" Taylor exclaimed, running over to me.
I rolled my eyes, "We talked once. We just met."
Taylor grinned, "Still. This is exciting!"
I sat down at the table which Taylor had set with beautiful plates and rolled my eyes, "You guys are nuts."
"There is one problem," Austin said. "Maia didn't exactly tell him who she was staying with in Nashville and his sister sounds like a pretty hardcore Swiftie."
Taylor blinked, her blue eyes confused, "How is that a problem? Sounds like a good guy for her. Sister being a fan and all."
"What is going to happen when they find out who she's staying with?" Austin asked.
"Well, that girl will probably be crazy happy and will never want them to break up. Or Maia and the sister will bond, leaving the poor boy in the dust."
"Guys, I'm right here," I called their attention and they turned to me, as if just remembering I was there.
"This is still really exciting," Taylor said, sitting down in a chair. "Is he possible first boyfriend material?"
"Wait... you've never had a boyfriend?" Austin asked, gawking at me.
I blushed, shaking my head, "No... I'm kind of an outcast."
"Well you should definitely get on that," Austin told me, smirking.
I rolled my eyes, digging into the salad Taylor had made and set out, "How was your meeting, Taylor?"
"Fantastic!" she exclaimed, her eyes lighting up. "We have a release date for the fiftih album."
I resisted the urge to scream with happiness and managed to just yell, "OH MY GOD YES!!"
Taylor smiled slyly at me, "You can't tell anyone."
"I won't," I shook my head like a child promising that they would go to bed after ten more minutes of watching TV.
The rest of dinner was made up of small talk and chewing food. I loved Taylor's cooking--it was the most amazing thing ever, like, ever.
Rinnggg. Rinnnggg. A phone went off and Austin apologetically looked down before taking the call. Taylor and I watched in silence as Austin paced back and forth in the kitchen, his faced creased with worry. Finally, he seemed to sigh and hang up.
"Everything okay?" Taylor asked when he returned to the table.
He looked at her warily, "Abortion. Freaking abortion."
My eyes widened in surprise and then after remebering I wasn't supposed to know about Austin's... situation, I quickly changed to confusion. Austin looked at me briefly and seemed to figure out that I knew.
"Taylor told you," he said and I bit my lip, looking at Taylor. "It's okay. I kind of assume that everything I tell Taylor, she tells you."
"Abortion," I whispered the word, almost afraid of it.
Personally, I was against abortion, thought it was unfair to the child. But that was just me.
"I was completely willing to take care of the child. It's not like our family can't afford it," Austin said, putting his face in his hands. "Maybe it's for the better. This way, the media won't make it Taylor's fault. Maybe it's best."
Taylor shook her head, "Austin, I don't want anything I do or anything that goes on my life to affect your life, okay? Maybe you could talk to her, maybe you could try to convince her."
"She said she wasn't ready. That she wants to fully live the college experience. She is saying that partying is more important to her than a life," Austin sighed.
"It'll be okay," I told Austin, unsure of what to say.
"I was actually getting excited about a baby, about something, someone, being mine," he said which made my heart hurt.
He was a good guy. The Swifts were good people. Why wouldn't someone want to hold on to them? To be perfectly honest, if I was carrying Austin's child I wouldn't give it up. (Not that I would be. I mean, he was like my brother but I'm just saying.)
"One day, you'll have your fairytale," Taylor said, hugging him. "Just maybe not today."
