Everything felt slow and sluggish.
Her consciousness was screaming that she was in danger, she needed to move. Her body wouldn't cooperate though. All her limbs felt heavy like they were laced with lead. The only easy thing to do was to turn her head, but even that was challenging.
Saran blinked her eyes slowly and tried to take in her surroundings.
Several monitors lined the wall facing Saran. A whole console of buttons and keyboards littered the old broken desk they sat on.
With a small groan, Saran tried to move her arms only to be stopped by something tethering her wrists together. She looked down to see rope restraining her hands to the arm of an old wooden chair.
"Well, well. Look who's awake just in time to see the fun." A voice chuckled beside her ear. She turned to see Lucas looking at her with sick amusement, his face just inches from her own.
Her heart began to pound in her chest. Fear flooded what little senses she had and Saran tried again, weakly, to loosen the rope on her wrists.
"Nah uh. I made sure that the rope was tight enough so you could watch this with me." He smiled, his rotten breath washing over her face.
Saran's face scrunched up in disgust and she turned away.
"Whatever you're gonna do to him, it won't work," She gritted out, trying to get her body to cooperate with her.
He only grinned before walking off.
Lucas had used something strong enough that it was going to affect her for longer than she'd like to admit. If she couldn't shake herself out of it, Ethan was going to die in Lucas's sick trap. She wasn't about to let that happen.
Saran glanced around the room to try and find anything to use to get her out of this mess.
She watched as Lucas walked away from her to sit in a chair in front of the monitors. He pressed a button and leaned forward to speak into a microphone situated in front of him. His voice reverberated faintly, telling her that she wasn't far from Ethan.
A plan began to form in her drugged mind.
Slowly, she stopped struggling and quieted down, letting her eyes droop just a little.
Lucas sat up and looked over at her, sadistic curiosity in his eyes.
He got up and walked over to her.
Thin, sweaty hands grabbed at her chin and lifted her head up to his. Colorless eyes squinted as they inspected her this way and that before he released his tight grip on her face.
In her peripheral, she saw Ethan working his way around the room. If she remembered correctly with what she saw on the VHS tape, he was about to go grab the yellow balloon from the locked room. Saran had to hurry.
"You were one of the lucky ones. Ya know that?" Lucas began, turning his back to her to go back to the desk.
"If mom or dad had found you, you would've been dead. But there was just something about you. Something that screamed you'd be perfect for a game I had in mind," He spoke, almost feverish, as he fumbled around the desk. His pale hands wrapped around something in one of the drawers before bringing it out.
It was a syringe and a bottle filled with an orange colored liquid.
"Especially since your stupid brother came around. I had to plan everything carefully. He was one of Eveline's favorites." His southern accent was becoming more and more pronounced as he began filling the syringe with the liquid.
