Guardians of Jurthera

Chapter one

"I have just the woman for the job"

I hear the headmaster say my name.

Oh no i can't work for the royal family they are evil and not the prince he's such an asshole. I think.

"Great when will I get to meet her." They continue their conversation but just zone out.

Jalie realising that I zoned out pulls me away by my arm towards the dormatories. We passe a bunch of girls of all ages training. Once we have made our ways to the dormatories, Jalie lets go of my arm.

"Did you hear of what she said, you're going to be serving the royal family. The prince. under what I've heard his is so handsome." I glare in her direction. "Oh ya, I forgot that you hate the royal family." she finishes quietly.

"What am I going to do? What if i get the urge to kill him or someone related to him?." I start to freak out I don't what to do. What if he's super mean and harms me, but I'm a Xiaka I can protect myself. What I think he's good looking and I fall blind to his handsomeness and ignores my mission or his cruelty. There are so many what if's running threw my head and I can't seem to stay calm. I had told my self minutes ago to stay calm and not freak out which I was doing right now.

Jalie suddenly interupts my thoughts "Well if I were you I would take the offer since you probably don't have a choice, then when the job is over you will be in a better position to make requests and then you could chose to go work up north of Jurthera near the circle of seven mountains and near the mines like you always dreamed of."

"I'll think about it." I tell her .

"You know that you don't really have a choice, Like I mentioned earlier." Jalie replies.

"Lunch is starting about now do want to go wait in line for food." I change the subject.

Jalie nods and we head to where the classes are cause that's also where the food is served. We walk to where the line has already started to form.

After lunch Jalie and I have class, sowe slowly make our way there talking about random things like we usualy do, and what we overheard earliar was no brought up once, but I knew that eventualy I would have to face the truth of how I don't have a choice. Just thinking of the prince made me so sick I didn't even bother to remember his name.

The class we have is about the seven mountain spirits that give vision about descion making to the council of seven. The council of seven is a council elected by the people, they stay in that possition for about four years but only nobles could run to become a member of the concil. Then the lessen moves on about the law and what punishment for what crime. And other boring things of that sort.

About three hours later the headmaster rings the bell to signifie that class is over. Now we have an assembly in the courtyard to talk and debat recents events and politiques before a bit of free time to study or train. The teachers or headmaster tells us what is happening, the older girls start talking and debating while the younger girls usualy just listen sometimes asks questions.

Jalie tells me that she has to ask a few questions to the teacher about todays class so I have to save her a spot. I head quickly to the assembly area which is just a bunch of sqaure mats arranged in rows in a half circle. In the middle of the half circle there is a small stage. I take a seat near the front and put my feet on the mat to my right to symbolize that that spot is saved for a friend. While waiting for the space to fill my thoughts keep coming back to the disgusting bratty prince and how I'll have to serve him. I think about how long it might be for and try to tell my self that it will only be for half a year or maybe only a full year but no more. I am still lost in my thoughts when Jalie comes and pushes my legs off the mat. I cross my legs and look up to see the Headmaster telling everyone here to settle down. She is an old woman with faire wrinkled skin, her white hair is neatly put up in a low bun.

"I have an important anoucment to make. " She pauses making sure she has everyones attention. "Jurthera is opening it's gates to the outside world."

Everybody starts taking, I just think about what I'm going to be asked what to do. Today the assembly was just about that. Jurthera finally coming out of isolation ready to start trading goods with the world and me being stuck protecting the damn prince.

About an hour later, the Headmaster says some least interesting news and adds " Valyn tommorow morning at dawn before training can you meet me in my office please and thank you." she walks off the small stage and every girl sitting down looks in my derection wondering if I did something bad or really good.

I get up, mad from all the stares and walk to the punching bags. I start punching them hard with my bare nuckles not caring if they split. I was letting as much anger out as possible.
