Forever Seventeen
Prologue
Why is this happening to me? I certainly didn't ask for this type of punishment. Well, actually more like eternal damnation.
I may look like your average seventeen year old girl on the outside, but on the inside you would see something completely the opposite of average. Looks certainly can be deceiving.
I cannot explain why I am the way I am, but I can be certain of one thing and one thing only: I have stopped aging. I am supposed to be twenty-two, but I still look exactly the same as I did when I was seventeen. I know you may still be skeptical after that fact, because you might think I am just a seriously lucky girl, like I am just lucky enough to still look seventeen. But in my honest opinion, it's a curse.
Why I think it's a curse you ask? Well, for the simple fact that I have stopped aging, and you know what it means to be frozen at seventeen? Never moving forward, and never being able to have children of my own if I was to ever desire them. It may be every woman's dream to always be youthful, and to be honest it was my dream before it happened to me. And now what I wouldn't give to be able to age again.
I noticed I had really stopped aging a year ago when I had still lived in my home town of Belfield, North Dakota. My parents were completely oblivious to my non-aging, and were confused and hurt by my decision to leave Belfield, and move to the even smaller town of Neah Bay, Washington, with a population of seven hundred and ninty four. My high school had even more students than that. That's just sad.
They just wouldn't understand my leaving if I were to tell them. They would think I'm crazy until they noticed too. So, that's what brings me here Neah Bay. No one can know. I would be labeled a freak if anyone were to notice. I would be put under the national or global spotlight. I can't let that happen, I don't like the spotlight being on me. I am a very shy and closed shell person. Unwanted attention to be would be terrifying.
So for now, here I am. In a shockingly small town, by myself, no friends to call my own, and no family. Now I have to start my junior year of high school all over again here to keep up the charade. Let me tell you that I am not looking forward reliving my high school years, especially since I will know no one. The high school I will be attending is Neah Bay Junior/Senior High School, but that to me is a mouth full, so I will just refer to it as Neah Bay High School. I am not so sure if my moving here was the best move for me, but its seems like my only option. My sudden immortality would not have been something my straight laced, do-gooder/conservative parents would have been able to accept. So I just left. With out any goodbyes to anyone except my parents, I just packed up my things and took off without a warning or explanation to my friends.
A year ago I was nowhere near the same person I am today. Before I was aware of my immortality, I was just a normal college student, who just so happened to look younger than I actually was. I was sociable, and far from shy. That's when I started to notice nothing about me was changing. I was always getting turned away at bars and clubs, and every time I would go up to the bouncer they would fan away my ID and tell me to stop using fake ones and go back to high school. It was infuriating.
The night that changed everything was the night I died. Or should I say the night I should have died?
One night after a party, I stupidly drove home tipsy. While driving down the road I caught sight of a deer and swerved to miss it, and all the while flipping my car five times. The car finally came to a halt when my car slammed into a tree causing my car to bend into the shape of a V. Some where in-between all those flips I was thrown out of the car. I was amazingly all too aware of what had just happened and was completely conscious. I then looked down to see my shirt had been ripped off, and it was exposing a huge gash in my stomach, and I was bleeding profusely. To my surprise I was in no pain. I was sure I must be dying if I wasn't hurting. My injuries were too extensive for a normal person to survive.
I then done further inspection of my injuries and noticed I had another large cut on the back of my head. After discovering all of my injuries that would surely kill me I laid down in the woods and waited for death to find me or at least an ambulance.
Another hour passed with no cops or white light that should be ushering me towards heaven, so then I became frustrated and sat up. To my amazement I looked down to see my gash in my stomach had shrinked into what looked like a harmless paper cut. I then got curious and touched the back of my head and gasped. Nothing was there, not even a trace of blood or scab. I looked all over my body to see all cuts and bruises were gone.
That's when I heard the sirens blaring from the distance. I panicked. Knowing I wouldn't be able to explain why I'm still alive, I ran, at an abnormal speed, if I may add. Not too fast, but I know for sure a human couldn't reach the speed I was doing. I had no idea what was wrong with me. Was I dreaming? No, I wasn't dreaming. I wasn't that lucky. That's the night I learned of my eternal fate. The night I learned I was forever seventeen...

As of June 14th, this first chapter has been edited. It's still not perfect, and I think it still needs to be rewritten, but it's better than before. And beware... I have not edited the rest yet. But I hope you enjoy it despite the mistakes. It won't be updated until I get the rest edited to my liking.
