♥Chapter One♥
*In King’s Cross Station, Present Day*
Harry Styles made his way towards the train, groaning silently as his mother and sister fussed over him and his hair. Yes, his hair.
“Gemma, I look fine!” Harry hissed, batting her hands away. “Mum! Make her stop!”
“Gemma, please,” Harry’s mom scoffed. “His hair doesn’t go that way; he flips it the other way.” Anne began flipping Harry’s hair to the right, much to Harry’s dismay.
“Mum!”
“Hey, Anne,” Louis Tomlinson, Harry’s best friend, said, appearing at his mate’s side. He threw his arm over his friend and tugged him gently to his side, out of the grasp of the lad’s mother.
“Louis,” Anne smiled kindly, her son’s hair all but forgotten. Liam Payne appeared next, followed by his two sisters. Louis’s siblings tackled him to the ground. They would all be attending Hogwarts this year and were all nervous. Louis, however, being the big brother that he was, insisted that they not communicate with him outside of the common room. For his popularity’s sake.
“Well, we should be going now,” Liam said, being responsible as usual. He tugged Harry and Louis after him onto the train without as much as a good bye.
“Thanks guys,” Harry breathed once they were stowed safely away in a compartment. They all place their trunks in the bins up at the top and sit around, waiting for the trolley with candy to appear. The boys all spend the first few minutes catching up and talking.
“And why did you feel the need to not owl me all summer, hmm?” Louis asks, turning to Liam. Liam gulped. He’d hoped his friend would have forgotten about that or simply not cared.
“I was busy,” He mumbled.
“Yeah, busy dreaming about that Granger girl,” Louis laughed. “You probably read Hogwarts, A History just to get in her robes.”
Judging by the scarlet blush that flooded Liam’s cheeks, Louis and Harry concluded that Louis had been right. Harry rolled his eyes.
“I’m going to go find the trolley…you guys want anything?” Harry stood, his money jingling in his pocket. The boys gave him their orders, Louis’s lengthy as always, and handed him the money he would need. Harry nodded and ducked out of the compartment into the empty hall.
He sighed. Now he could have some time to think. However, that meant that his thoughts were free to roam wherever they pleased and that meant his thoughts would land on the face he’s been thinking of nonstop since fourth year- the face of Draco Malfoy. Ever since that day after the second event in the Triwizard Tournament he’s had a bit of an infatuation with the boy. Not that anyone could know of course. Louis and Liam, though, they were different. They got it out of him. And they never failed to remind him that he had no chance. First, because he was a Gryffindor and Draco was a Slytherin, and second, because he was gay and Draco…not so much. It was no secret that Draco wasn’t a virgin, and from what the Slytherin, and a few Ravenclaw, girls had said: Draco Malfoy was good in bed.
Harry sighed, his smile falling from his face. How could he have been such an idiot? He knew that falling for the Slytherin Prince would only bring him heartbreak. He’d never talked to the boy after that day by the forest and yet he felt as though Draco had broken his heart. The two had never been together, let alone acquaintances, and yet he could feel his heart breaking every time he saw Pansy Parkinson attached to Draco by the face.
All of a sudden, Harry bumped into something extremely hard. He turned and looked up. Harry’s breath caught in his throat when he came face-to-face with a tuft of blond hair. He tried to calm his rapid breathing, assuring himself that many people at Hogwarts had blond hair. A little voice in the back of his mind nagged at him, reminding him that only one person had blond hair as platinum as that.
Draco turned slowly. When his grey eyes met Harry’s green ones they softened slightly before freezing over again. Harry’s perfectly pink lips opened slightly as his eyes widened. Draco sneered, clearly happy with the response.
“Can I help you?” He asked, keeping his voice cold. The boy before him shook slightly and he almost cut the act. Almost. Harry went to open his mouth to answer but two boys appeared, flanking Draco’s side.
“Don’t waste your time Draco,” Zayn Malik said, crossing his arms over his chest.
“He isn’t worth it,” Niall agreed, cracking his knuckles. Harry gulped.
“Anything from the trolley, dears?” A nice, elderly witch asked, gesturing to the trolley filled with candy and sweets behind her. Harry quickly paid for his sweets and left, leaving Draco feeling somewhat empty inside.
“What a prick,” Zayn laughed, buying a few licorice wands from the trolley. Niall bought two boxes of every flavor beans and all of the remaining chocolate frogs on the cart.
“Don’t call him that,” Draco snapped before he could stop himself. The moment the words were out of his mouth he froze. Damn.
“What?” Niall stared at his best friend, a few cinnamon flavored beans falling from his mouth onto the floor.
“Nothing,” Draco spat, storming back to his compartment. How could he slip up like that? All those years he’d kept his feelings bottled up inside in hopes of them simply disappearing and going away. He’d walk the halls, his eyes trained on the unruly mop of curls. He’d listen during class for the boy’s deep, slow voice to answer a question. He’d watch Harry’s long, nimble fingers as he handled ingredients in Potions.
Draco sighed deeply, resting his head in his hands. This was going to be one long, hard year. He could already tell.
