I was texting Hags (who was two seats in front of me, sitting next to McDonagh) when a blonde girl that looked to be around my age tapped me on the shoulder and politely asked if she could sit next to me, since there were no other seats left. "Of course!" , I replied. Relieved, the mysterious girl then attempted to put her suitcase (which looked to be twice her weight) in the overhead compartment. She struggled to lift it, so I went to help, and, with a humongous effort, managed to get the damn thing into the storage area above us. This drew a few playful snickers from my teammates, who found it funny that I was smaller than them and that my 5 foot 7 frame had a harder time lifting heavy objects.
"You look like a long-haired ant trying to lift an SUV", said Kreider, jokingly.
I rolled my eyes at him and sat back down. So did the girl.
"Never mind my teammates. They just like to tease people. I'm Mats Zuccarello", I said, shaking the shy girl's hand.
"I'm Alexis Kennedy. And I love the New York Rangers", she said, a wide grin spread across her face.
"I suppose today's your lucky day then."
Alexis smiled again, and then I noticed for the first time how insanely pretty she was.
