Eva's flight landed shortly after four-thirty, and one could say she was more than shocked when she noticed a broken Joshua waiting for her in the airport terminal.

She walked towards him slowly, not quite sure how to approach him. Yes, they had been friends for years, but because they hadn't spoken much in the past two years, she didn't know what type of support he would need.

When Evangeline was a few meters away from the Bayern boy, he looked up, rushing into her arms. To say Eva was taken off guard would be an understatement, but she immediately opened her arms for him to crash into.

"Evie," He choked, a pair of black Bayern Munich sweatpants adorning his lower half, while sporting a grey hoodie with a black snapback sat backwards on his head.

"Josh," Evangeline clutched the boy close to her, not caring how much time they had spent apart. It felt so natural to be back with Joshua, and she promised herself that she wouldn't let anything get in the way of their friendship again--Joshua meant too much to her.

He pulled away after a few moments, wiping the stray tears from his cheeks with the back of his hand, "I'm surprised you came," The German international smiled at her sadly.

"I promised I'd always be there for you, remember?" Eva reciprocated his smile before adding, "I'm your BGF for a reason, right?"

He grinned, a true, authentic grin, and Evangeline felt her heart swell at the sight. And although Eva tried to admit to herself over the past two years that friends grow apart so it was only natural for her and Joshua to drift apart as well, as soon as she was back with him in Munich she fell for him all over again.

"You really are the best friend I could ask for, Evie," He took her luggage from her, wheeling it behind them.

They walked towards the exit in silence until Joshua cleared his throat, "I'm sorry for being such a shitty friend the past two years. I just got caught up in the fame, which isn't like me at all. I want to be the same kid I was in Bösingen, not some arrogant asshole who forgets about his oldest, most dearest friend."

"Everyone makes mistakes," She said sweetly, but slapped him on the back of the head simultaneously. "Just don't make the same mistake twice, Jo."

Joshua's head turned towards Eva, his eyes shining with happiness instead of tears for the first time that morning. "You called me, Jo--God, you can't even begin to understand how much I've missed you, Evie."

She slid into his car, murmuring under her breath so he couldn't hear, "I can, Josh--because I've missed you twice as much."

The ride back to his house was filled with chatter and attempts to catch up on each other's lives. Joshua learned that Evangeline had spent the summer in Greece, helping refugees learn one of the five languages she was fluent in.

She really is an angel, Joshua thought to himself while staring at the girl sitting next to him. Her blonde hair was tied in two french braids, a style she often sported when they played football together in their younger years, and it couldn't help but make Joshua feel as if time had slipped away from him.

By the time they had driven home, it was already five o'clock, and Joshua decided to make the two of them waffles and scrambled eggs--Eva's favorite foods.

"Would you like to come to training with me today?" He questioned Evangline who was absolutely shoving the contents on her plate into her mouth.

She glanced up at him with wide eyes, her cheeks pushed out like a chipmunks. Eva took a second to swallow, before answering, "I'd love to, Kimmie."
