He told her, dusting the bike before himself, that when he noticed the glowing thing, the first thing he remembered was the house of glass that was used for artificial accelerated weathering of rocks which was essentially toughened to take high forces. so, as they were not too far away from it and he estimated to reach it before the impact, he took the chance and raced towards it.. he couldnt make it into the house but he reached the side of it in time safe enough just to protect them from the major part of the blow!
Things then got serious. Not cuz they were bleeding, but he saw around him. It was terrifying. The burnt mess had pieces of unburnt parts. seemed more like parts of a vehicle.. but they were too strange for a vehicle. It looked more like parts of some really sophisticated machine. he could tell cuz he has a BE in Mechanical.. "A space ship or a missile of some sort, i suppose." He told her. He saw a black colored, partially unburnt box beside him which he couldnt open but saw some writings over it which he thought was Japanese until he saw the flag. It was chinese.
"A Chinese made piece of spaceship hit Bangalore?! Bloody hell!" he yelled. It was a bloody hell indeed, as he saw many dead bodies of who couldn't make it to safe grounds on impact, some alive but partially burnt. Some bleeding but trying to help others get sorted. It was utterly sadning.
He managed to pull away the blackened box along with him to see what it was. With just some time lapsed post impact, came the ambulance and cop cars.. they excavated the place in search of survivors and yes the bodies too for the final procedures.
"Damn! This thing is heavier than i thought!" he told trying to drag the box near the bike.
"Sir, Please don't bother doing that. we'd take care of it. you might need some medical assistance. please go to the ambulance. And leave that thing to me." said a voice from behind them. He turned back to see a cop talking to him. " I'm alright sir, I not hurt that bad.. I've got to see what this thing is and why it's here. Thanks." karthik told the cop reluctantly to shut him out. Didnt work. The cop, in a firmer voice this time, "Sir, I ask you to put that thing down right away. It will be taken care of by authorized personnel." Karthik turned to him and told that he too was authorised to look at it as he was a named "scientist" by the central govt. But the cop refused, telling him that he was given strict orders to collect any and every curious object from the impact site. Karthik at last forced himself to let go, believing strongly that either ways, by him or anyone, he'd get to know the whereabouts of what it was and where it came from.
His eye caught the flashy badge over the cop's shirt which read his name, he told, "Mr. Rajashekhar, I accept the fact that you have to follow your superiors' orders. so, i'll let you take it." The cop took the boxs and left. He was the sub-inspector of thet place i believe.
Karthik, too, left with Ananya back home. Mum had a sigh of relief looking at them both. Alive.
