Its around 17:30 and we're still playing badminton in a play area I quite dont recognize.. It was big, spacious and elevated. was fun cuz it was summer and no wind to interrupt the play.. Adhi, being so young, could make me run around to attend his shots. Impressive!
Thats when I saw it happen. Right in front of my eyes. Adhi hit the shuttlecock a bit too high that i got to see something glowing bright, . Was not the Sun as it was already hours past noon.
I see it come closer. So did everyone around me. Adhi came running near me. He wasn't sure if to be scared or amused by what it looked like.. Prajju too was coming near me. Thats when it happened. The Impact. A very loud screeching sound is all that I heard as I acted solely relying on my intutions. It had hit the ground, about 100m away from where we stood. It came out so fast that i had no time to think of what it was. A shock wave pushed me a few steps back. The push got harder as the dust and debris from the impact started to spread around. It was so fearsome that i at once realizes that surviving it was a matter of doubt. all this happened in no time. In a snap.. I crouched, hiding adhi within my cover; like a human shield and pushed prajju behind the wall towards my left to ensure his safety. I repeat, all this happened in fraction of a second.. I came back to my senses in what seemed like an hour. the sound had settled; so steeply that the silence was deafening.
I'm alive, hardly. I hear painful cries of ailment or loss or no wonder what; along side the hurtful high frequency note ringing in my ear. I felt someone remove the the things, what seemed like metal, from over my back. I'm still breathing; with warm liquid flowing down my back. Not sweat or water, but my own blood. I felt no pain. I was more interested (or concerned) about , not knowing what happened, but to know if my cousins were alright.
