Thirty years had passed since the Nazis waged war against Hellsing, and during those past decades, London had been rebuilt from scratch, as well as the Hellsing mansion. Many people perished in this incident, but hope was not lost. New recruits were hired to rebuild Hellsing's formation. Among these recruits, five of them were children not older than twelve, whom were recently rescued by Frida during one of her missions from a group of scientists illegally testing them and other children. She couldn't save the others, for they had all passed in their prison. When the surviving children arrived at the headquarters, they were very wary of their new surrounding, but with the help of the motherly enchantress, who opened up to them, they learned to trust their new friends and family. After considering their options, they had decided to serve Hellsing by being trained as vampire hunters.
At first, it was a handful, for Seras had to keep an eye on the soldiers during their training all by herself whenever Frida was away for missions. Asmund couldn't be of much help due to his new job as the personal butler of Sir Integra. But due to the children's fast cognitive development, they were able to step out of the beginner's level and join the higher ranks in hunting down vampires and ghouls. The Director was a bit doubtful to send them out on their first mission, even though Frida was there to supervise them, but judging by the reports she had received, she could tell that they were capable for the job and continued to send them out for scouting.
"Frida, do you want to look at the new soldiers' progress?" asked Seras when she arrived at the balcony where she said woman often visited. Surprisingly, despite being a Draculina, the sunlight never bothered Frida. Whether it was because of her vampire abilities fused with her natural ones as an enchantress, she didn't know. And it amazed Seras, who had to stay in the shadows to talk to her while she stood under the morning sun feeding the birds.
"I think I'll take a day off." replied Frida before glancing at Seras over her shoulder with a sheepish smile. "After all, I think they had enough of seeing my face during their training."
"I'm pretty sure they don't mind having you around." assured Seras with a giggle. Her smile soon faltered before looking at her with concern. "Will you be alright, Frida? I mean, he hasn't returned and..."
The said woman looked at her with an unreadable expression before focusing on the birds. Once the birds had finished their food, they flew off to their nest, and she began walking towards Seras, standing in front of her with a sad smile. "Many years ago, I did the same thing to Alucard." she began, diverting Seras' attention towards her. "I went on a mission for thirty years with my brother because my father's immortal life was ending, and we had to scout in the country I was born in. I sent very few letters because of limited time, and had Alucard patiently wait for me for thirty years."
Frida took note of Seras' sad expression, and lifted her chin to look at her now boysenberry eyes that were once lilac. "If you ask me, I think of this as a punishment for being so cruel to Alucard." she said. "If he could wait that long for my return, then so I shall wait for his return, even if it takes me a hundred or a thousands years." She released Seras' chin and gently patted her head, causing the latter to flush at the warm contact, before walking down the hallway. "Oh yes, have you seen Mr. Penwood? I need to talk to him about the firearms supply."
Seras quickly caught up and led her to where the said man was. "He's training with Master Integra." she replied as she jogged up to a door and twisted the knob to open it, revealing Integra spinning a wild tale of Sir Penwood's grandfather as a fearless warrior who singlehandedly turned the tide against the Millennium and that his swordsmanship skills were the cause of the damage to her left eye. Seras and Asmund watched the scene with an unamused expression while Frida blinked owlishly.
"Since it's the truth, please pay for the new helicopter." added Integra.
"Again?!" gasped the man.
