Present Day:
“Honey I’m home!” A voice called as they shut the door of the house behind them. Aiden Hill, a well built and fairly tall man, took a breath as he took in the familiar scent of his home; the scent of rose and white lily. His sharp features relaxed from their hard and rigid expression, warming to the pleasant atmosphere. His well tailored suit, cut and fitted to perfection, allowed many to believe he was a well established businessman, living the high life with his wife and child; an assumption that could be no further from the truth. Placing down a silver briefcase, he began to take off his hat and scarf, placing them on the hooks near the door. His wife, Maria Hill, smiled at hearing his arrival. She was much the same; with similar, hardened features, a lean and strong physique and her own, forever changing, story. Placing down the knife she was using to prepare the food for dinner, she smiled warmly as she watched her husband walk into the kitchen.
“Hello sweetie. Good day?” She asked inquisitively, placing a tender kiss to his cheek. Aiden nodded, smiling slightly as he lifted up the silver briefcase and placed it on the table. Maria raised an eyebrow “SHIELD?” She asked. Again Aiden nodded. With quick flicks, the case was opened, revealing a series of files labelled CLASSIFIED and TOP SECRET. The pair smiled knowingly to each other, acknowledging their newest assignment with great excitement. Maria picked up the closest file. On it was a small photograph of their new target; an unsightly man with a scar over the bridge of his nose. Maria laughed as she placed down his profile and browsed quickly through the rest of the files. “Oh this should be fun. I’ve never been to Austria.” She commented, casting a glance at the photos that littered the table of the various mountains and ski resorts that they would most likely never visit. Aiden rummaged through the rest of the briefcase, searching for something in particular. Minutes later a cry of success sounded as he pulled out two brand new passports, with new identities and new back-stories. He handed one to his wife.
“Then it looks like we’re in need of a holiday.” He joked. Maria rolled her eyes, chuckling slightly as she tried to memorise her newest persona.
“Oh a fashion designer. How classy.” She remarked. Aiden smiled, placing the contents carefully back into the briefcase, and he closed it up and put it beside the bookcase.
“How’s Luke today?” Aiden queried. Maria picked up the knife and began chopping the food once more, both of them returning to their more docile roles.
“No different. I really think we should consider taking him with us this time Aiden. He’s fourteen and he’s bored. You never know, he might benefit from the trip.” She reasoned. Aiden contemplated for a second, knowing of the dangers he was putting on them both by bringing his son along, but also knowing that it would help strengthen their profiles if it looked like they were going on a family trip.
“Alright I’ll ask him.” Aiden said, walking back through the kitchen towards the sitting area. The living room was a spacious area with two couches and a TV and a black rug that covered the majority of the wooden floor. A fireplace sat in the heart of the room; providing a comfortable environment for any guests should they come and visit. In the corner of the room sat a spiral staircase, leading to the two bedrooms, bathroom and office. Walking to the bottom of these stairs, Aiden looked up and called to his son. “Luke? Come down here for a second!” He shouted up. Moments later the sound of footsteps could be heard exiting one of the upstairs rooms and appearing at the top of the stairs.
