“I thought you said you could ski!”

Raven shouted out to Luke as she clutched helplessly at her side, tears rolling down her face as she laughed hysterically at the teenager attempting to stay on his feet. Luke meanwhile frowned in concentration, his hands held out in front of him as if they would stop gravity from pulling him over. He huffed slightly, blushing pink before smiling.

“Uh correction,” he said, pointing his finger up to the sky, consequently making him wobble slightly. “I said a few times. That’s very different to ‘professional skier of the year.’ He retaliated, stretching his arms out again as he reached the end of the smallest slope in the resort. Raven shook her head, chuckling to herself as he approached her. About to take his hand, she yelled out in surprise as Luke didn’t stop.

“Luke! Luke, stop! Brake! Brake!” She screamed as he collided, rather in slow motion, into her, causing them both to land in a heap in the soft snow. Not a moment after the crash Raven sat up, blowing the excess snow off her fringe and looking across to Luke with a disapproved and yet amused expression in her eyes. She giggled as she helped Luke sit up, keeping tight lipped as she heard his groan in defeat of the sport. “Not getting me back for yesterday were we?” She question with a smirk. Luke smiled as he attempted to stand up, his hands out in front of him once again.

“Now Raven. Why on earth would I do such a thing?” He said, a playful glint to his eye. Raven rolled her eyes, standing up quickly before skiing after him.

“Shall we leave it there for today. Something tells me that the beginner needs a break.” She mocked. Luke smiled.

“Novice. Not beginner. But yes I think that’s a good plan. What did you want to do instead?” He asked. Raven smiled, offering out her hand which Luke accepted rather shyly.

“I know just the place.”

Slowly and cautiously, after about ten minutes the pair made it to the local café, where steaming hot beverages and optimistic chatter took place. After fiddling with his skis, Luke finally managed to dislodge them from his feet before joining Raven in the bustling café. The clock read 1:00pm. Tables and booths lined the walls, with happy customers filling them. Luke made his way down to the corner of the café where Raven sat in a vintage styled booth. Two hot chocolates already sat on the table, their scent wafting upwards in a tempting manner. Seeing him arrive, Raven smirked, reminding herself of the day’s events and Luke’s unique style of skiing.

“I see the ski master has arrived.” She mocked. Luke laughed as he sat down, his hands cupping around the hot drink as he took in the sweet smell gratefully.

“I was expecting a much bigger reception I will admit. Where are the banners and balloons?” He joked back to her, laughing as he spoke.

“They don’t exist. Much like your skiing skills.” Raven teased. Luke gasped, reaching over and swatting her playfully.

“You better watch that tongue of yours Raven. You don’t know where it could get you.” He threatened light heartedly. Raven laughed
