II. SECRETS WE KEEP

A CHEERFUL MELODY filled the house. The android immediately set down the clothes, she was just about to iron and went to open the house door.

"I got it, Mary," a voice called out, making her stop few metres before the door.

A tall man chuckled. "I didn't want to pull you away from your work, but it looks like you were faster than me again."

"That's alright, James," she smiled back at him, "I don't mind."

He shook his head as he finaly opened the door, letting in one freckle-faced brunette.

He leaned in to kiss her on cheek. "Hi, honey."

"Hi," she chirped, clearly really excited about something.

"Hello, Avery. How was your day?" Mary asked politely, giving brunette a smile.

Avery's eyes quickly found Mary's. "Mary! Guess what!" She was almost jumping on place with excitement. James rose his eyebrows at her, but couldn't hide a smile as he looked at his wife.

"What is it, Avery?" the android frowned, not understanding the situation.

Woman held one out of four bags she was carring to her and she took it, even more confused.

"So," Avery cleared her throat, "I know that are with us only a week...and I know that we didn't act all happy when you came and said a lot of stuff about not needing you, but I am--WE are really sorry about that. And since your a part of our family now, I decided to give you a little something, so you don't feel out of the place."

Mary slowly opened the bag and pulled out a peach coloured dress. She held it before her eyes for few seconds, examining the colour and fabric before lowering it and looking at smilling couple. "Avery, I don't understand."

"It's a dress, Mary," brunette explained as if their android was completely stupid, "For you. To wear."

"I--I don't need a dress. I am supposed to wear my uniform," robot girl mumbled out, her LED flickering crazily.

Avery sighed, her smile fading. "Yeah, I know, but it was a gift and your uniform..." her eyes quickly went over android's body, "is honestly making me a little uncomfortable."

James reached over to rub his wife's shoulder. "Just say thank you and take it, Mary."

Mary's eyes fell back on peachy fabric in her hands. It was a nice dress. Her thumb traced over it as she lifted her gaze to the couple, smilling warmly. "Thank you."

A prison. She was locked up in a prison. Well, not really and not yet, but it sure felt like it. She wasn't going to get out of this one. She was going to die. There was nobody, who could help her. James and Avery were dead, murdured and she was the only suspect. And who besides them could ever care about a broken machine like she was?

Her eyes made their way through the room. One table, one mirror, one door, two chairs, four walls and one deviant android. Tears on her face already dried and suddenly she couldn't find any more to shed for her owners. Now she was just angry. Angry at herself. She was supposed to prevent something like this from happening. And she failed. She was furious.

She slammed her handcuffed hands on the table and stood up. Nobody's going to keep her prisoner. She marched towards the door, determined to get out. She was going to kick them open, force them to let her out. But before she could, the door opened.
