Chapter 2

Armin's POV

Year 847, 15th Semptember, 7 o'clock.
It was the day after I joined the military and met Eren Jaeger, a peculiar human teenager with a great desire to kill the titans. Today we would practice our 3D maneuver gear skills, so Shadis took us in a forest with some big-ass trees. I looked down at my 3DMG and sighed, this was going to slow me down.

"Armin!" I heard and turned around to see Eren jogging up to me along with Mikasa. "Hey Eren, Mikasa" I greeted with a small sigh "Ready for this training? Because I'm excited!" The boy said with a determined look. "I guess? Not really a fan of this thing, gets in the way" I replied and averted my gaze. "Well without this we're basically screwed out there" he chuckled and I smiled softly "If you say so..."

Soon we all lined up as Shadis started talking, or more like, yelling. "Alright maggots! Now you will all use your 3DMG and swords to kill the titan-dummies hidden in the forest. GO!!" He yelled. At that, everyone shot their anchors in the trees and zoomed away, including me, Eren and Mikasa. Unlike the others though, I started jumping from a branch to another.

Though the maneuver gear was throwing off my balance and I risked to fall a few times "Fuck this! It's getting in my way" I growled and disconnected the swords from the wires. Quickly I unlatched the gear from my belts and let it fall to the ground, not giving a single fuck if it broke.

Finally free from that thing, I returned to jump from tree to tree until I saw one of the dummies pop up next to me. I jumped from the branch and cut the fake nape of the fake titan in one blow, and the second after I was on another tree. I saw people looking at me as if I was some sort of alien or something.

That was until I heard Shadis "What the fuck do you think you're doing, Arlert?!" He yelled at me "What does it look like? Killing the dummies!" I frowned as I went on. Not much later, Eren was flying next to me with his gear "Armin what the hell?! How did you do that? Can you teach me?!" He asked in disbelief "You wouldn't be able to do any of this, forget it" I deadpanned and 'killed' the next dummy, that was also about to hit Eren.

Once we arrived on the other side of the forest, I jumped down the tree and onto the ground, regaining my balance right after. Shadis walked up to us with a frown "Congratulations Arlert, you killed the most dummies, even if you didn't use the right method" he scowled "I'll talk later with the other superiors about you" he said while glaring at me, but I just shook it off.

Eren then ran to me and started shaking me by my shoulder "That was fucking cool! I beg you! Teach me that!" He said, all the while shaking me. I sighed and grabbed his arms firmly, making him stop "I said that you wouldn't be able to do it. Forget about it" I frowned "But-" I quickly cut him off "Unless you want to fall and die, forget it" I frowned and he pouted.

"Don't give me that look, you don't have enough strenght for that" I said to him with a sigh "I...I'll work on my strenght then!" He said with a grin. This guy... "Eren, stop it" I growled and looked away from him. He frowned softly and I could see all the excitement in his eyes disappear in just one second "Al...alright then..." he said softly and looked away.

Once we were back at the training grounds, Shadis told me to follow him, so I did. "What the hell was that, Arlert?" He asked serious "My way of killing titans. The 3DMG slows me down, Sir" I said just as serious. "Interesting..." he narrowed his eyes "What military branch do you want to join?" He asked all of a sudden "The Survey Corps, Sir" I replied "Excellent, you're dismissed" he said and I left without questioning.

As I walked in the cantine, I saw Eren waving at me in a very exaggerated way "Armiiiiin! Come sit with us!!" He grinned. That sparkle was back in his eyes and I felt somewhat relieved. I walked over to their table with my tray of food and sat in front of Eren, who was sitting next to Mikasa. "Did Shadis punish you?" The ravenette asked "No, he did not" I shrugged and took a bite of my bread.
