The Village

"I'm sorry, red." Lance muttered, his hands slightly shaking as he gripped the lions controls, "But this is for the best."
He knew what he had to do, but somehow, he couldn't do it. Slowly, Lance entered in Mettatopia's coordinates, and hit confirm.
"I'll see you around."
Before the lion flew too far, Lance hit the 'eject' button, sending himself flying out of his lion as it flew away.

Maybe there was a better way to do this than sending himself flying to the ground, but it was the only way Lance could think of. If he activated his jetpacks a second later, he would have hit the ground. That didn't matter now, though. He watched as his lion flew off into the distance, going to where it should be.

Lance turned and faced his surroundings. It was pretty, to say the least. The first thing he saw was a mountain, covered in trees and flowers, that was overlooking the planet. Creatures Lance had never seen before watched him walk by as they chowed down on some grass with their young. It creeped him out how alike this planet was to Earth.

Up ahead, he spotted a village. A dozen huts seemed to be huddled around a fire, and a waft of something that smelt delicious hit him. He better get used to it quick, this was is home from now on.

Allura could feel her heart pounding through her chest. Surely, this isn't the last time she'd see Lance? He would come back eventually, wouldn't he? There was no way she could keep up, though. The red lion was way too fast.
"Come on, Lance. Come on!"
It was no use. She would never be able to catch up by chasing, she just had to let him go until he stopped. The tracker she'd set on his lion would tell her when she got close.

Allura tried to take a nap, but all the anxiety of all this kept her awake. A voice in the back of her mind was telling her she was stupid for going after Lance. Now the team was short of two lions. What if Lotor came back? What if they were in a battle right now, and they were unable to form Voltron because they were both gone? Next on her worry list, was Lance McClain himself. Sure, she'd noticed him maturing, but he'd also grown distant. Lonely. Quiet. Generally more unahappy. After the destruction of his home planet, she should have seen it coming.

As Lance got closer to the village, he could hear music. It sounded like some old folk music, the villagers chanting along with it in words Lance couldn't understand. He wondered if they had guitars; it'd been a long time since he'd played one.

As he got closer, he saw the villagers. They had orange horns to match their skin, bat like wings, and looked about 6ft tall.
"Uh, hey!"
The music stopped, and everyone turned to look at Lance. A boy stood up and edged closer to him, examining his features.
"He is the one!"
Many 'ooh!'s and 'ahh!'s could be heard, and the villagers formed a circle around the fire, though there was a large gap straight ahead from where Lance stood.

"Hey, guys? I don't think you've got the right guy-"
Before Lance could finish his sentence, a woman walked out of the fire; she was taller than the others.
"Hello, King of the Fire. I am the leader of this tribe, what might your name be?"
Lance was too shocked to speak.
"Please!" She placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder, "We are the Sorbitoo, we are a peaceful tribe."

Lance reminded himself why he was on his planet.
"I'm Lance McClain." He held his hand out for the leader to shake, but she had no idea what he was doing, so she ignored it.
"I am Naxebul," The leader said, beckoning him towards the rest of the villagers, "We will tell you the history of our people."
Lance followed, and sighed happily. He picked a good planet to stay on.

Allura woke up crying. She didn't realise she'd fallen asleep. Currently, she was curled up on her chair, panting and sobbing from a nightmare she'd had. Luckily, she couldn't remember it.

Suddenly, an alarm started blaring. She immediately sat up, and took the controls. Allura sighed with relief at what she saw; the red lion was coming back. Lance was coming back.
"Lance! I'm so glad you're safe, I don't have any idea how long I've been looking for you."
No response.
"Lance? Are you okay?"
No response.
She activated face call to his lion, and saw the red lions cockpit, with nobody inside.
"Oh quiznak! Lance?"

She stopped following the lion, and turned back around. There had to be some way of getting to him. Could she track Lance's armour? No. Could she try and see where the red lion had been? Nope.

There had to be something, some way to get to him. This wouldn't be it. That's when she remembered. Lance had piloted the blue lion before her. If his connection with it is still there, she could see through the lions eyes. Hopefully his connection was strong enough to be able to see him.

Allura closed her eyes, and focused on her lion. She breathed in sync with it, and soon enough, she could feel their hearts beating at one. She saw through the lions eyes, she saw Lance, on a planet she didn't recognize. The lion knew where to go, though.
"All power to thrusters!"
