Chapter one:

Tobias POV:

It's been hard since tris died. Outside it may seem like I'm over it but on the inside it's still tearing me apart, even after two years. As I enter my apartment I remind myself that no matter how hard I hope, she isn't coming back. I tell my mom how things have been going at the office and how much I "enjoy" being a politician, and I head off to my bathroom to take a shower for tonight.

David's POV:

Everyone's memory has been erased and for all they know, so has mine. Before shooting Beatrice I remembered why she was so resistant. "Her code" I thought "Her code". Her genetic code was more pure than any I had ever seen. Because of this I shot Beatrice with a special "temporary death" bullet which causes temporary paralysis, hallucinations that some people would expect at deaths door, temporary blindness and deafness, causes people to look like a corpse, and the bullets cause your heart rate to slow to one beat a minute that is just weak enough to pass by the scanners without notice but just strong enough to get the blood around. My design of course. And when it came the day of her cremation it was just a matter of switching her "body" out with a fake. After that I took her to my private lab where I was now the only person who knew about it, well now anyways. Today is the day she should be waking up and she's not getting away this time.

Tris's POV:

I wake up. Wake up? I thought I was dead! I should be dead! What about my mom, my dad, al, and will! Once I was shot my mom took me where I was back with them all! I got hit with the bullets and I should be dead! I guess that doesn't exactly top my list on important things right now. The top is why am I chained up? I think I'm about to get my answer when I hear the door slide open.
