Chapter 2

Chapter 2: Meeting Night Raid

"Wait! If it's money you assassins are after, then let the girl go! She's done nothing wrong, she's innocent! This isn't a battlefield, no one else needs to lose their life!" Tatsumi pleaded, but the assassin didn't respond, continuing to charge, an emotionless expression plastered on her face.

Suddenly, the sound of glass breaking made the assassin stop, turning her head towards the noise. What she saw shocked her.

A window of the mansion had been shattered, not by a stray bullet, not with a foreign object, but by a person. They had jumped out, face first with their arms protecting them, and proceeded to twist his body. He was covering a lot of ground, getting closer to the fight, and his body was reflected by the moonlight. They wore a black jacket with some type of pants, and a white shirt. Most curiously though, was a white mask covering the top of his face, and the smile as if he had fun jumping out of that window. The assassins, Tatsumi, and Aria could only look in disbelief at that man who had just jumped out a window. What was surprising though, was the fact that he rocketed towards them at high speeds and great distance, a cat black and white cat with a yellow collar holding on for dear life on the top of his head.

To break his fall, he front flipped in the air and rolled forwards when he touched the ground. He had his head down, and he stood up, lifting his head. A confident smile was on his face, and a white and black mask over his dark, grey eyes. He had black, unkempt hair that stuck out here and there, and pale skin.

"Always wanted to jump out a window again." The newcomer whispered to himself.

"WHY'D YOU HAVE TO DO THAT?! Although, it was still really stylish!" The cat meowed at him, although, only the newcomer could hear him.

". . .Not a target." The red eyed assassin muttered, looking back at Tatsumi. But before she could charge again, the masked figure stepped in front of her.

"Sorry, but I can't let you kill him." The figure stated, smiling coolly. His voice made Tatsumi recognize him.

"Ren?! Is that you?! Why'd you jump out a window?! Never mind that, get back! Get Miss Aria out of here, while I cover you!" Tatsumi shouted, making the newly named Ren "tsk" in annoyance.

"Get out of the way. I need to bury him." The assassin responded, readying her blade.

"Come on! Run!" Tatsumi pleaded, to which Ren responded by walking towards him. However, he pushed the brown haired buy aside, and stood in front of Aria, towering over her. An intense glare was on his face, as well as his black cat's, making Aria nervous.

"R-ren-chan? I-is something wrong?" Aria stuttered, to which he responded by punching her in the face, knocking her to the ground. Tatsumi gasped, shouting for him to stop. Aria was on the ground, and Ren grabbed her by her blonde hair, dragging her towards the storage shed. His expression didn't change.

"REN! What are you doing to Aria?!" Tatsumi pleaded, while the red eyed assassin proceeded to charge at the masked boy. But before she could jab her blade in the boy dragging the blonde, she was grabbed by the back of her jacket by an inhuman hand.

"What are you doing?" The girl asked blankly, looking up at a blonde haired woman with cat ears and revealing clothes.

"Don't worry, we still have time, right? I owe the kid with the brown hair. As for the masked kid," she started, making said boy stop dragging Aria and look at her slowly. His gaze was intense under his mask, and he wasn't smiling. She recognized him in an instant, cheerfully yelling, "Oh! Masked Hottie! Hiiii!~"
