The stars shone beautifully in the dark, their light reflected from his ocean blue eyes. It was probably three am where his family lived. Why was he still up? He didn't really know, just something about these stars seemed really interesting to him.
They gave him comfort from the toxic reality. In this world it didn't really matter how much you tried, people would still think they're better than you. They would always put their feelings before yours.
It's an awful world.
But, like any other awful thing, it also has beauty in it. It might be just a little, but it's still there.
He thought that happiness was beautiful, as long as it stayed. When it left, it was total hell for him. Empty. All he felt without happiness was empty.
Jealousy was his least favorite emotion, even though he felt it a lot. "Number two" is what his mind loved to scream at him, when he saw the black haired, fair skinned boy. Even though he disliked him, he couldn't help but look up to him. The hotheaded boy would always get the job done, without any major interruptions.
Back at the garrison he let the jealousy blind him of the amazingness the boy had. But now he really didn't have any choice but to pretend that the jealousy still blinded him, since it would be weird if he would just randomly start to be friendly with the orphan boy.
Of course, all his other teammates were amazing as well. His hero, Takashi Shirogane. His best friends, Pidge Gunderson/Katie Holt and Hunk Garrett. His beloved princess Allura, who was clearly going to be his future wife. His weird but still awesome space uncle, Coran Coran The Gorgeous Man.
If he was honest, he meant the future wife part. He was clearly crushing on Allura and it hurt a lot to see others making fun of him for it. But it was his goal to make Allura fall for him. Well it was until today- well yesterday since the new day had already begun.
Lance realised that, Allura really didn't like him in that way and that she had her eyes for someone else. It hurt, yes but he refused to show it. He'd rather cry about it alone than on someone else's shoulder.
"Hey, Lance?"
His head snapped to the opposite direction. Keith. Lance's eyes widened. What did he want..
"I just wanted to know if everything was okay, since you know, the Allura stuff and all." The boy's cheeks turned a little red as he scratched the back of his neck. What was this? When did Keith start giving any quiznacks about him? "H-hey don't cry- you'll find the right person!" The shorter male rushed to his side. What? And then he realised, he had started crying. Lance touched the tears with the tips of his fingers.
Keith had grabbed Lance's face in his hands and started to dry his tears. He had sat on Lance's lap without even noticing. Wow this was kinda- Lance chuckled to himself. No homo though. At that moment, he realised that Keith's frame was actually quite small for a dude. It was basically a little bigger Pidge. Well maybe more than a little bigger.

"So um Keith, could you get off of me?"
Lance saw the disappointment in Keith's eyes. "Ah, yes of course, s-sorry." He had probably expected him to be a little nicer about it but why would he care. It's not like they were friends or anything. Keith stood up from the bed and awkwardly stared at the ground. "Sorry, again." He mumbled but it felt like it was more to himself than to Lance.
Lance sighed as he scratched the back of his neck. "Fine, but don't get used to this." He opened up his arms with a bored face. Keith's expression was something that Lance had never seen before. It was an adorable shocked face that Lance would never be able to get out of his mind. The way his eyes had sparkled like he had just found gold. The way his cheeks turned a little red- NO HOMO THOUGH.

Lance groaned and stood up from his bed to hug the awkward boy himself. He wrapped his right hand around Keith's waist and the other slipped on Keith's middle back. The other male tensed from the touch before wrapping his arms around the other's shoulders.
The next day was the same as usual. They bickered and tried to one up the each other every chance they got. But when Lance was sitting on his bed once again, he had decided to visit Keith himself.
And so they met up every night. They'd make jokes, comfort each other and so on. Lance found himself feeling better and his bond with the hotheaded boy only grew stronger. He couldn't help but smile when Keith laughed. Lance swore that he wouldn't be able to live without it even for a week. No homooo thoughhh.
Everything was going so well...
