Jessy walked in late that night. I acted like I was asleep as hovered above me, studying me. A few minutes later he climbed up my bunk and laid down to sleep

When I woke up, after an hour of sleep, I looked over at Jessy and saw the place where I cut him. His leg was all bandaged up, but you could still see the burn from my sword.

When I asked if he was alright, he ignored me. He kept taking in a small whisper to the other boys. I could barely hear anything. They all made tiny glances my way every couple minute.

Suddenly, without me wanting it to happen, my eye-site turned that blinding orange color. I closed them in case it showed outside my eyes, and listened. My hearing got four times better than before.

“so exactly what happened?” rock whispered to Jessy.

“She cut me with her sword and my leg burned. My neck started to burn worse. Doc said I got a scar across my mark.

“It’s just like the demons who claimed they fought angels and survived?” rock asked.

“do you seriously believe there is angels. We may be trained to fight them, but I never saw one. I don’t think she is an angel rock. If she was our leader would have stuck her in a torture chamber or killed her. Instead he stuck her with us and gave her special treatment,” Charles turned to Jessy with a half sigh, “did she hit your mark at all?”

“No,” Jessy shuddered at the thought, “she hit my leg, just my leg.”

“was it bleeding? It doesn’t look like it was.” rock asked.

“No, mostly it just burned and blistered. Her eyes were glowing a yellow orange and the sword glew a gold color when she hit me. Everything went white. I did not know what happened after that. It was like looking at the sun, again, just twenty times worse. The pain, though, was all I could feel.”

“I wonder how bad the sun itself would burn, since we have lived in this dark hell hole of a building for almost a decade.” Charles thought.

Dark hell hole for almost a decade? It was quite dark in here, but for a decade made me wonder why they were taken.

“how could a demon sword burn a demon? Only an angel sword is capable of doing that.” rock shifted to look at me through his peripheral.

“is she part angel?” Charles looked at me briefly.

My eyes were still closed making me look like I was asleep again.

“They won’t tell me anything. I wondering why her eyes were orange. It’s the closest to the gold I can think of, and there are only rumors that a golden eyed angel ever existed. If she knows about anything we don’t know...” he paused unable to finish his sentence, “her eyes were orange not gold,” Jessy tried to convince himself he wasn’t living with an angel.

“I don’t know Jess,” Charles closed his eyes.

I got up, acting like I slept for a long time and stretched my muscles. My vision was a fading orange when I grabbed my towel from my bed frame and walked into the bathroom. I locked the door and felt very weak. Something dark took over my mind. I lost my balance. My knees buckled I grabbed my throat, when I felt like I was choking, and tried to pry the invisible hands from my throat. Blackness slowly took my vision from the edges till I was totally lost in darkness.

I woke up on a hospital bed, again. I walked to the door so I could escape, but was stopped by a note hanging off it. I picked the medical equipment off my arm, not caring for the slight trickle of blood, and picked up the note to read it.
