Alex' pov
I wake up in a white room. I immediatly sit up straight, but I'm gently pushed back.
'Shh, calm down, you're okay,' I hear my mom's voice say.
'Mom? What happened? What was that thing that attacked me?' I stammer.
'What do you mean 'that thing'? You've been hit by a car. That's why you're in the hospital.'
'There was a monster, mom, it attacked me. I should've listened to you. I shouldn't have gone in that dark alley.'
'Honey, you're just confused because you hit your head. You weren't attacked by a monster.'
'No, mom. You HAVE to believe me! I tell the truth!' I yell.
'Excuse me, Miss, can you please leave this room, you're upsetting her,' a doctor says.
'You're right. I'm sorry, Honey. I'll come back this evening,' Mom says, and kisses my forehead. I nod in response.
'How long have I been out?' I ask the doctor, when mom has gone away.
'Almost 10 hours. You must have been hit really hard. I think that's why you're a bit confused.'
'So it's tuesday already?' I ask, Ignoring what he said. The man nods.
'When can I go home?'
'Tomorrow. Your heartbeat is still a bit low, but that'll be better. I'll let you rest now.'
I nod again. Now I feel the awful pain in my head. I close my eyes, trying to sleep, but the pain keeps me awake. I also keep thinking about that monster. My mom says I was hit by a car, but I don't know if I believe her. I saw the monster with my own eyes. Am I going crazy?
Why doesn't anybody believe me? I know what I saw. It was a monster. What if it comes back? What if it's gonna kill me?
I feel like my lungs are getting narrower. It's getting difficult to breathe. I'm starting to hyperventilate...
'Alex? What's going on?' Blurry I see Sam standing next to me.
'Sam...' I whisper, my breath getting faster. I can hear how weak my voice sounds. Tears begin to stream down my face. I can't breathe. I'm going to suffocate...
Sam sits next to me and gently pulls me into his chest.
'Shh, it's okay. Calm down. You're gonna be fine.' He says and softly caresses my back.
I slowly start to calm down.
Sam puts a lock of my hair behind my ear and smiles lightly.
'Thanks,' I say, my voice hoarse.
'Is there anything I can do for you?' He asks.
'Can we cuddle?'
'Yeah, of course,' Sam answers. He takes of his shoes and lies down beside me.
I lie my head on his chest, while he puts his arm around me.
Suddenly I see someone standing in the doorway. A guy with a hood, dressed in black leather. He's staring at me.
'Sam...someone's staring at me in the doorway,' I whisper.
'What? I don't see anybody,' Sam says.
I look again, de guy is gone.
'I think I'm going crazy...'
'What do you mean?' Sam asks, worried.
'Well, my mom said I was hit by a car, but what I remember, is that I got attacked by some kind of monster. I was so scared, Sam. And a minute ago, I saw a guy standing in the doorway, staring at me.
'Attacked by a monster? What do you mean? What did it look like?'
A shiver runs down my spine. 'I-it was big and black. With slimy, spiky tentacles. It could talk. He knew my name. He said he was gonna kill me. It was so scary...'
'Is that why you were hyperventilating?' I nod slowly. 'What if it comes back for me?'
'It's not like I don't believe you, but it sounds like you've had a really realistic nightmare. Like, it was so credible, you think it really happened.'
'And that guy I say a few minutes ago? Was he a hallucination?' I ask, staring at the doorway.
'Maybe.., it could be, because you hit your head,' Sam says. 'You know? Maybe you should sleep a bit. I can see you're really tired. Get some rest.'
'Yeah, maybe I should,' I mumble. 'Will you stay?'
'Sure.'
He softly begins hum a song, while he draws light patterns on my back.
I yawn and close my eyes.
After a while I fall asleep.

When I wake up, Sam is still lying beside me. 'Good afternoon, sleepyhead,' he says, smiling.
'Hi,' I whisper.
'How do you feel?'
'Better,' I mumble.
'Good,' He says, with a smile.
'Wait, didn't you have to go to school?' I ask.
'I did, but I called and said I was sick.'
'And they believed you?'
'Yeah, I don't know why, but they did, he grins. 'But, I need to go soon, my mom said I had to cook tonight.'
'Ahw, then I'm gonna get bored,' I pout.
'Sorry...'
He sits up straight and puts his shoes on.
'I'll see you soon, alright?' I nod.
He gives me a kiss on my forehead and leaves the room.
I sigh and stare at the ceiling. It's so boring to be in a hospital. You can't do anything, because you're stuck with an infusion.
I sit up straight and see my phone lying on the table next to my bed.
I wanna pick it up, but then I see someone standing in the doorway in the corner of my eye.
It's the same person I saw when Sam was still here. The hooded guy...
I crawl back, scared he'll attack me or something.
'Who...Who are you?' I ask, with a trembling voice.
'I saved you,' The guy answers, looking proud of himself.
'So, it ís true, I really was attacked. It wasn't a nightmare? But...how...I saw you a few hours ago, but my friend couldn't see you. How is that possible?'
'I was gonna ask you the same question,' he says.
'What? What do you mean?'
'Miss, Fabray? Are you alright?' I hear a doctor say.
The hooded guy looks flabbergasted.
'I'll come back for you,' he says, and leaves the room, just when the doctor is entering. It looks like the doctor didn't even see the guy walking away.
'Who were you talking to?' He asks. 'Uh, I was calling a friend.' I lie. I know I would have to stay longer if I said I was talking to an invisible guy.
'Are you alright? You look a bit pale,' the doctor asks, while he checks my heartbeat.
'Yeah, just tired.'
When the doctor is out of the room, I close my eyes and put my head in my hands.
What the hell is going on? I got attacked by a creepy monster and I talk to a guy that nobody can see except me...
How did I end up here?
