Pepperwood is dead

A/N: THIS IS DURING THE SEASON 7 TIME WHEN NICKS PUBLISHIER SAID HE WAS GONNA END THE  PEPPERWOOD BOOK  SERIES .

Nick came into the apartment and sighed. Soon when he shut the door he stood there for a minute with his work in his hands. He threw his papers down and screamed in pain as he slide down the door with his hands in his face crying loudly. "I'm over! My career is over! I'm such a failure!" He continued to scream insults to himself bailing knowing he can never write anything again.  He went to his home office and shut the door loudly behind him. Winston and Schmidt looked at each other in the kitchen with worried fear. They ran to his door and sightly knocked on it."Nick, are you okay?" Winston said to him softly. "Of course he's not okay he said he was.. look Nick let us in." Schmidt cut Winston off abruptly; he sadly had not slept in 30 hours and his emotions were very on edge. He did not want to deal with an upset best friend but of course everything had to happen the day he was not his best. "I'm not coming out The real world sucks; leave me in here!" Nick screamed to them both started a fire in the trash. They both looked at each other in worry. They needed back up. "Day!" Winston and Schmidt said in sync. 

Schmidt got his phone and started to call Jess, his anger turned to scared. Nick finally got a big break and his life just started and soon to be ruined this will hurt his self esteem that he finally got. As the phone rang he was getting more impatient. "What the hell Jessica Day answer your damn phone." Soon as he said that she answered. "Schmidt why have you called me? If this is about Ruth...". "No come home soon It's Nick. Jess's heart started beating faster then if she would have if she drank a pot of coffee. "What happened to him? Is he in the emergency room? where are you?" She went on with her worried questions. "Nick went to his editor.." Schmidt looked at Winston attempting to get Nick to open his door and Nick is screaming demeaning things to himself to Winston. It was a heart breaking sight to see. " Pepperwood is dead Jess." Schmidt said quietly to Jess. "What! I will be over it 5 mins! Don't do anything stupid!" Jess said to him and hung up. Schmidt looked down at his phone in sadness and hope. "Nick! please come out  look we can do this together!" He said trying to get Nick out of his hiding. 

Jess runs into the front door. She was horribly killing her on the inside. She bent over and looked at the papers are on the floor. "Pepperwood...." She got up and looked to see Winston and Schmidt sitting by the door in defeat. "Jess thank god you are here please..." Schmidt said tried. Jess went to the door and knocked on it softly. "Nick honey, can I please come in?" Jess was finally prepared to see the mess her boyfriend was in. "Jess, baby is that you?" Nick said with a raw voice. "Yes honey, please let me in." Jess begged Nick so she can comfort him. "Jess you don't want you to see me like this. Please let me destroy myself in peace. I'm giving you a chance to leave me Jess, go find someone who is not a failure." Nick brokenly said to Jess sobbing at the end of his sentence. Jess looked at Winston and Schmidt with a tear coming down her eye. "Don't cry aunty Jess." Ruth said running up to hug her. "Thanks Ruth you are very sweet." Jess told Ruth while looking her into her eyes. "Why are you crying?" Ruth asked Jess. She just sighed and looked at Ruth. "I'm upset because your uncle Nicky dose not see himself as the amazing man that he is. That this is rockbottom and everything will turn around. He also does not see that I love him even if he was nothing; as long as I had him that would be heaven in my world." Jess started to sob. 

Nick heard what she said through the door. He was next to it with a bottle of hard liquor. He was shattered that Jess was hurt, since they got back together he promised to never hurt her again and sadly it feels like he already broke that promise. He knew he needed to do the right thing. He opened the door to let Jess in. The trio outside was shocked on why he opened the door but they were hopeful. Jess walked in to see nick on the floor sobbing harder. Also a fire in the middle of the floor in a trash can. "Honey..." Jess sat next to Nick and put her hand on his arm. While Winston put out the fire and Schmidt picked up Ruth in panic. "Jess I'm so sorry I have hurt you." Only words he could say as he cuddled up against Jess. He felt so safe with her and that he was so lucky she came here a long time ago. He just sobbed on her shoulder while she was holding on tight to him. "Just let it out baby." She told him as she kissed his head. "Pepperwood was all I had left Jess, I don't know what to do any more. I'm out of a job. I have no more ideas and my idea books are shit." he took another sip from his bottle. "That's enough." She took the bottle away from him and handed it to Winston. Listen honey you say that now but look..." She started taking his hand and intertwining with hers. " Look you did not this Z for zombie or Pepperwood would happen but look at you now! You are the worlds number 1; best time author! The little kids that came up to you in Europe. They love you Nick. I also love you and I am your biggest fan. I love you Nick Millier and I hope you can see that these take time." She told him whipping the tears off of his checks. "Also there is other companies instead of your publisher, we can send them your other ideas and you grow your span. Don't just give up writing because some stupid editor hated it." Jess continued as she stared into his eyes. "Who is this person I will kill them." Winston said. "I can send my boys out." He continued. "No, no one is killing anyone. I remembered that he said to think of 3 other ideas and to tell him them. Thank you Jessica Day, I love you so much. You are an angel in my heaven. You are my sunshine. You make my dark skies turn away." 

"Please don't take my moonshine away" Jess sang to Nick smiling at him. They looked at each other and smiled. They thought they were the only ones until they heard Schmidt snore softly. They laughed as Ruth poked him and he woke up wondering where he was. "Thank you all I never knew I could deserve you all especially you Jess. He smiled turning to her as he got up. "We love you man and... and we care for... for you" Winston sobbed to Nick."We care for you Nick and you deserve all of the good in this world, including this angel;Jess."Schmidt told Nick with tears following Winston's. "I will try to make this work." Nick made a turtle face while looking at Jess. Jess took his hand into hers and giggled "and this is the man I fell in love with". she smiled at him leaning in for a kiss. 

"Daddy what is that ?" Ruth pointed at Nick and Jess smiling and kissing. "That's true love Ruth." Schmidt said to her half asleep nodding off again.
