I am a very heavy sleeper, almost nothing can wake me up, unless a very loud noise preferably a bomb exploding, or physical contact.

"ELENA!!" Yep, that was loud. I jumped out of my seat- literally- and then tripped on my own foot onto the floor which wasn't so bad seeing as my head then hit the knee of the old man sitting opposite me.

My head blacked out for a second, before I blinked and my vision returned to normal. I rubbed my head before I realised I was eye level to someone's knee. I heard bursts of laughter vibrate all around me and I couldn't help but blush from pure embarrassment. Looking up at the old man, I grinned sheepishly, "Sorry, I didn't mean-"

"N-no, it's my fault," Skye was laughing like there was no tomorrow and I could hear him gasping for air. "Come on get up." And again, more laughter, including from the old man.

I twisted my head and saw Skye red faced and smirking at me. He grabbed a hold of my elbow and heaved me up to stand. "You okay, Elena? I didn't mean to scare you. I kept saying your name and you would't even flinch or twitch or anything so I got a bit panicky and kinda said it a little bit too loud."

"Mmm, it's okay. I'm a deep sleeper. My mum says I go into a coma when I sleep." I force chuckled back, still rubbing my head.

"Ah.. no wonder then. I'll bear that in mind for future." He winked at me and gave me a playful smile. I stared back wide eyed trying to figure what he meant considering it was a joke.

"Anyway, I woke you up because we're almost there. I'm guessing you didn't hear the driver announce that we'd be there in five minutes right?"

"Sorry, nope" I said popping the p.

"Alright, i'll help you get any bags you have. Let's go."

I couldn't help but smile at how helpful he was, and I could already sense a true friendship forming. To be honest, it was the first time since any boy had been kind enough to help me with nothing in return.. I think. It's not like I didn't get attention from guys because I was ugly or anything... it's just that I never really made an effort to make a friendship work with boys. I mean, come on? All guys want a friendship for sex, right? I'm talking from experience, so for example, boy meets girl, boy and girl friends, boy wants to do it with girl, girl says no, boy says bye bye. This is why I never bothered with them.

Skye and I managed to hop off the train and get a taxi to the University Campus where we'd receive our schedules and find out where our rooms would be. I was surprised to find the area relatively quiet when we got there, considering the term would start in a few days. Perhaps Skye and I were one of the last ones to get here.

The University took my breath away. It was one thousand times better than the pictures in the brochures. It had an old exterior dating back to what I guessed to be Victorian era. The building was a classic example of the Gothic architecture which became popular during the time of Queen Victoria’s reign. Can't picture it yet? Then imagine Westminster Abbey... kind of like that.

So there I was standing in front of the tall and rusty iron gates of my the place I'd be calling home, and without realising I had pressed my cheeks against the cool iron bars of the gate, as a childhood memory swept across my mind. Images of a small girl clutching onto a small lunch box for dear life, whilst the other children played playground games. I sighed. I wasn't that great at socialising since the day I was born.
