The sudden BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP of my alarm clock scared the hell out of me as I bolted upright, catching my leg in the duvet cover before tumbling onto the floor. Pathetic, I know.
"Fuck this oww." I was pissed off. I untangled myself by kicking the sheets off of me, and ran to where the stupid noise was coming from.
My phone. I cursed under my breath when I realised I had forgotten to turn the alarm off since yesterday morning when I had to catch the early train. I fidgeted with my phone until I managed to turn it off, and went back to bed pulling the sheets back onto my head. As much as I tried to go back to sleep, I just couldn't.
I threw the sheets off of me, quite literally still pissed off and stomped into the bathroom where I took a long shower waiting for the the hot water to do its magic and massage my tensed back muscles. After, I changed into a pair of skinny jeans and a plain jumper then walked back to the fridge and opened the milk carton and poured myself some cereal for breakfast.
After washing my bowl, I checked the time and realised it was still too early to call Skye. Boys will be boys. I plonked myself down beside my second suitcase which still had my laptop inside, and removed the laptop cover revealing my new shiny Mac laptop. My face formed a toothy grin as I looked at it in all is beautiful glory. Cheesy, I know, but it was my new laptop!! I turned it on, and waitied impatiently for it to load. I fetched my documents from yesterday that Betty had given me and logged onto the university website.
I checked my schedule and let out a sigh when I realised it was pretty much the same schedule as I had for school. Some days I started early at 7 and some days I started at 10. I'd usually finish anywhere between 3 and 7 (university teachers I heard were very unpredictable.) Of course, instead of lessons we had seminars and lectures and my sister told me that in her lectures she's fall asleep occasionally and they didn't even tell you off. Which was cool and all, but I wasn't going to do that because I wanted to be Valedictorian. Which means I had to work my butt off and 'participate' and 'organise' events. Yep, I would definitely have to start socialising like a normal person would.
Surprisingly, Skye called me before I did, and we arranged that they'd pick me up at 8pm before heading to the party. The rest of the day went by pretty smoothe while I watched tv programmes on my laptop and ate Ben and Jerry's Phish Food ice cream which was one of the best ice creams EVER in the world. I figured I'd sign in to Skype and see whether anyone from back home was online.
I felt so happy when I saw the names 'Zara Darvish' (my mum), and 'Roxanne Kerr' (my old friend) online on my contacts list. First, I made a quick call to my mum and she picked up immediately.
"Hey sweetie! How are you?" I could hear her fumbling with something and then she flicked her webcam on. I turned mine on too.
"Hey mum. I'm okay thanks. Just been chilling. How's the fam?"
"Yes, they aren't too bad, darling. We all just miss you so much."
"Yeah, me too. How's my sis doing?"
"Oh, Dahlia is good, she's gone out shopping with Amanda."
Typical! My sister couldn't stay two seconds at home, she'd either be out partying, or shopping, or as she would say 'hunting for male clunges' which was from the amazing comedy 'The Inbetweeners'. I sniggered at the thought. She was clever though. She was already a final year Law student.
"Say hi from me."
"I will dear. Oh, and look! Your father is home!"
I covered my ears knowing whats to come.
"MARCUS! COME HERE, DARLING!" She yelled in her high pitched voice.
I laughed when I saw my dad walk in and give my mum a quick peck on the lips which made me melt inside. He turned his face towards the camera and blew a kiss for me.
