Not What I Expected

Chapter Five

Everything happened all of a sudden. Annie lunged at me and knocked me to the ground, my hand reaching out to grab her hair bringing her down with me. I rolled onto my side and she dug her nails into my back, piercing my skin. I flipped over to face her and pulled her hair as she punched me in the stomach. I doubled over in pain as I grabbed my stomach crying out in pain. I heard the music stop, and everyone turned facing towards us. I didn't let that stop me. I grabbed her hair again and mustered up all my strength and punched her jaw which made her stagger back a few steps, realising what I had done to her to sink in. Another look of pure hatred flashed in her eyes as she jumped back on me. I braced myself for another punch but before Annie reached me, I saw her get knocked sideways by another girl.

I looked up, blurry eyed, trying to make sense of what was happening. I couldn't believe it when I saw the other girl knock Annie over and sat straddling her pulling her hair out telling Annie to 'man up'. Annie managed to free herself and started to lunge at me again before she fell over and I saw the mysterious girl had grabbed a hold on her foot forcing Annie to trip.I heard the crowd begin to cheer and I felt so embarrassed.

"ENOUGH." The whole house suddenly became eerily quiet as no one made a sound. Their facial expressions turned serious and I saw them part for someone coming through. It was Zack followed by Skye and the others. I giggled softly at how the crowd separated, reminding me of Moses parting the sea.

Skye and the twins ran up to me helping me up and hugging me and I felt awful once again. I clinged onto Skye, sobbing gently and burying my face in his chest. His hand stroked my hair as he told me everything was okay.

Still in his arms, I turned my attention back to the scene in front of me. Zack was trembling, his hands had formed fists by his sides and he was standing between Annie and her slutty friends who had rushed to protect her, separating them from me and the others including the mysterious girl who had helped me. I couldn't help but smile at the girl who had helped me and I mouthed 'thank you'. She smiled sweetly back and I saw her lips form 'your welcome'.

"What is this?" Zack's voice boomed. "You all act like you're baboons. GROW UP. If I see another repetition of this then you know what I will do." His eyes met mine before he added "I'm sorry for what happened Elena. It was not your fault." His eyes lingered on mine and I saw his arm muscles tense even more when he saw Skye holding me in his arms. He focused on me for a while longer before he went up to Annie and grabbed her elbow where I could see Annie squeal silently from the pain of where he was holding her. He nodded at the mysterious girl who had practically saved me and led Annie away, followed by her slaves. There was a mixture of facial expressions from the people around us. Some looked terrified enough to move, and some looked confused, like me, as to why everyone was listening to this random guy and why no one laughed when he said 'you know what I will do'. Ugh, whatever.

The mysterious girl then surprised me by yelling "Get the party back on track! Turn up the music Jay!" Jay, who was the DJ, turned up the music and everything went back to the way it was as though nothing had even happened.

I looked up at Skye who kissed my nose.

"You okay?" He had to shout for me to hear him.

"Yeah, I think so. What was her problem?" I practically screamed back.

Before Skye could reply, a female voice loud enough for us to hear interrupted.

"She's a stuck up bitch who gets jealous way too easily for my liking and somebody needs to put her in her place.'
