(Writers block is fun...)
My mind was still rattled from the images of war. I was still seeing flashes of the battle. They seemed to focus on some certain people. What seemed to be a set of twins and tall and short brunettes.
Who are they? I tired to reach my hand out to touch them, but it would only go right through.
I walked out of the room I was staying in, to find Crimson right outside.
"Good Morning. We got a lot to get covered today."
Crimosn looked slightly different, he looked more faded, parts of him seemed to be emitting particles. He didn't look so good.
"Crimson, are you okay?" I questioned.
"Why would you say that?" He stopped floating.
"It just seems that you're fading."
Crimson laughed. "Don't be silly...there's nothing wrong with me." He continued floating down the hall.
I sighed at his ignorance. "What on the schedule today?"
Crimson waited a while then responded. "A wedding and a birth."
"That's two big events, you sure they should be on the same day?"
Crimson frowned. "The wedding isn't really that important."
A wedding not being that important? What kind of wedding is it?
I walked down the stairs of the great hall and it was adorned with white flowers and light shone through the windows. It was beautiful.
Between where the two stairwells met was the groom. It was Phyris, dressed in a brilliant blue suit adorned with silver embroidery.
The small talk that was going on hushed when a woman in a pastel purple dress walked down the isle.
She had a beautiful veil covering her face only leaving her long locks of white hair to be seen to the eye.
Next to the groom was someone familiar. The tall brunette that I had been seeing in flashes of the war. Instead of being dressed in broken chain mail armor and soaked in blood, he was dressed in a black suit with a similar silver embroidery.
Crimson pointed to him. "Since there was no one left in my family to fill in the next spot, someone else who showed great promise took second command. Nathaniel Mercier. He's very important to the rest of the story."
The bride walked down the isle.
"Maryium Sallese, soon to be an Engel and part of the Royal Family. They met at the celebration party for winning the war."
"Wait, Reylim won the war?!"
"Yeah."
"AND WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?"
"Well if we lost then this wouldn't be happening and Reylim wouldn't really be here."
"You can't just say it so bluntly." I sighed.
"I can do what I want." Crimson mocked me.
Phyris lifted the veil from her face when she reached the end. From what I could see she had green eyes.
Come to think of it, a lot of people in Reylim had white hair. Just another popular trait that doesn't make it as special.
"Crimson, why do so many people here have white hair?"
I let my eyes span the room and I saw way more.
"Well the trait used to run only in the Royal Family, after sons and daughters that didn't inherit the throne moved on and it spread across the the kingdom. Every person with white hair has some royal blood in them but no one really knows it. It's just a normal trait now."
"You may now kiss the bride."
I was so caught up in the genetics of everyone that I'd missed the vows.
Maryium smiled and kissed Phyris before he had a chance to react.
The bride kissed before the groom, it made me laugh a little, but it also was very sweet. It made the room fill with warmth.
The veil flew off as a gush of wind flowed through the window. Before it landed on the ground, the smell of flowers and the light of sunshine was gone.
"You don't want to know what they did on their honeymoon." Crimson shuddered at the thought.
"I will take your advice"
Crimson floated back up the stairs, looking back at me.
"Well, what are you standing there for? We got a birth to attend to."
I nodded and rushed to get back up the stairs, almost tripping as I did so.
We stopped at a bedroom. The familiar scene of people crowded around the door like before. Whispers all saying the same thing. Wondering if the baby would be okay.
Screams of labor came through the door till they stopped. Small cheers could be heard and congratulations.
When the door opened, the doctor smiled. Instead of asking for Crimson, she looked over at Nathaniel.
"Her Highness wishes to see you."Nathaniel walked through the crowd. Dressed in something that showed his arms. They were adorned in scars, from big ones to small ones, and what I didn't notice before were small ones on the side of his face.
Before he walked into the room he looked back at someone, I turned and saw the smaller brunette. Nathaniel then walked in the room. I followed.
Maryium sat on the bed, clearly tired and herbed for sleep, she held a bundle in her arms.
She motioned Nathaniel to come by the bed side, shushing the bundle in her arms.
Phyris came around and patted Nathaniel on his back, a smile on his face.
"It was a rough birth but she made it. I'm entitling you to take care of him if anything should happen, Nathaniel."
Nathaniel bowed his head. "Yes, Your Highness."
Phyris laughed. "Oh stop with the formalities and greet the new prince."
Maryium lifted the bundle and in the soft blanket was a boy with a mop of black hair. He opened his eyes, they were a dark red brown. Instead of crying as you would expect from a baby, he smiled.
The baby laughed, reaching out with his small tiny hands.
"Isn't he just a pure bundle of joy?" Maryium smiled.
Nathaniel nodded. "He sure is. What are you naming him?"
"His name is Kryn."
