All that glitters is not gold; for Sterling, it is silver.

Name: Sterling Everest

Gender: Male

Age: 18

District: Two

Appearance:

Among a group of Careers from Two, Sterling is unlikely to stand out. Though his tall, muscled build may be impressive to sponsors, and equally intimidating to other tributes, it is ordinary to anyone who frequents a Training Center. His brown hair, which he always neatly styles, and matching eyes clearly mark him as being from Two. Still, his handsomeness rivals that of even One's most beautiful tributes, with a sharp jawline, full lips, and high cheekbones. His demeanor is usually calm, but the fire in his eyes betrays his quiet intensity.

Personality:

Sterling has always been defined by his focus. What his parents called stubbornness or obstinance, Trainers recognized as a fierce determination to succeed at whatever the cost. To most, Sterling appears withdrawn, but that is merely because his singular focus distracts him from meaningless conversation. Secretly, Sterling is thoughtful and deeply committed to those he loves, though his hatred and anger can run just as deep as his love.

Past:

Sterling was born the second child to a Merchant family, and second place has adorned him ever since. His parents always favored his sister Carmela, and allowed her to take over the family business. Sterling Trained instead, but was consistently the second best in his class. His only true friend, and lover if not for the Games, was his Training Partner, Garrison. Due to the Quarter Quell, which doubled the amount of tributes, Sterling was allowed to volunteer for the Games alongside the best in his class, Izaya.

In the Games, Sterling actually outlived Izaya. The Career Pack, in part due to its increased numbers, was tumultuous. Sterling developed a new rivalry with one of the boys from Four, and slept with one of the girls from One. At the top nine, he tried to leave the Careers as his District Partner, Valeria, had, but was killed by his former allies.

Strengths:

Sterling has near-perfect aim with a bow and arrow. Give him a few seconds to aim and a chance to focus, and he can kill anyone at 100 yards.

He and Valeria trained together for nearly a decade, and, though they don't trust one another, they know each other well enough to work as a solid team. This connection is particularly rare in a Games like these.

Weaknesses:

Years of inadequacy have taken their toll on Sterling. Though he's good at hiding it, he lacks confidence, and seriously doubts he'll win the Games.

Sterling's survival skill set is limited. Most of his strategy for the Games was to snag as many supplies from the Cornucopia as he could and live off those. On his own, he'd more likely die from Mother Nature's hand than another tribute's.
