Sleepover

Over the last two years, Kai and I stayed in the same classes through freshman year, and sophomore year too. He was welcomed in my house at any time, and the same was for me, it got to a point that his Mom asked me to call her 'Ma', and his parents treated me like their daughter they never had. My dad treats him like the son he's always wanted. Sometimes my dad would put him ahead of me... I know it's kinda sad, but at least he likes him. Over the years I played soccer and swam for my school on the swimming team. Kai always played the same sports too, it just gave us an extra reason to hang out with each other. 'Hey, I'm not complaining.'

I walked downstairs and asked my dad if I can sleep over at Kai's place, he said "Yeah"and asked for me to be back before Sunday.

I walked to the front door put my Adidas Superstar's on and grabbed my phone and keys and opened to the door to see Kai."Hey, what's up" he said as he gave me a hug. The more I got to know Kai the more I realized how affectionate he is, you would think that me being the girl I would be the affectionate one, but nope Kai is...

As we walk down the street Kai starts pestering me. I have no time to be annoyed by anybody right now." So... Why are you up so late at this hour?" he asks.
"Like I said before, does it matter? And I could ask you the same?" I ask in a sassy tone.
"I had to clean the kitchen after dinner and I was watching tv, thanks a lot detective"
"Uh huh" I joke.

I kick my shoes off at the doorstep as we enter, and he unties his Vans. "Try not to be too loud, Ma and Pa are in their bedroom watching 'Ghost' " he informs me. "Yeah, of course" that said I walk toward to their room and peep my head inside saying "Hi" they welcome me in and ask how I'm doing, I say "I'm fine" and excuse myself from their movie. Finally finished taking off his shoes I meet Kai when I turn around.
"Whoever gets to my room first gets player one," he says in a serious tone.
"Oh its on!" challenge accepted. No more words said as we dart to the stairs, he puts an arm back so he can take the lead but me being shorter than him I duck and run faster beating him to push his bedroom door open. "YESS!" I shouted in triumph
"Hey! I literally just told you a second ago to not be loud, and the first thing you do is yell", he scolds me.
"Sorry..."
"Its cool but just tone it down, okay?"

I jump on the bed facing the huge tv with his PlayStation underneath, accompanied by tons of games. He walks to the consol and slides a disk in grabbing two controllers. Passing one to me and while sitting down beside me. We play Call of Duty Black Ops 4 till 2 am switching it up to a movie...White Chicks. We laugh the night away, well the morning away. Too tired to move, we just head to bed, shutting off the tv we lay under the sheets and fall asleep.

My eyes blink open due to Kai shifting around, I feel the bed sink in as he sits up. "Hey, are you okay?" I whispered.
"Um, yeah I'm just a bit uncomfortable"
"I could sleep on the couch downstairs if you want?", I suggest.
"No its okay there's no need for that, it's not the first time we shared the bed, I'm just a bit hot that's all." As he says that he turns around and takes off his shirt, it's not the first time I've seen him shirtless but it feels different this time. I turn back around and tuck myself back under the covers to hide my blush, but it seems Kai noticed the awkward atmosphere. He throws his shirt on the nearby chair and lays back down and returns to his slumber.

As he falls back asleep my mind reminisces on what just happened if feel my face heat up try my best to fall asleep before I know it, the darkness engulfs me.

Waking up to the bright light shining through the blinds, I turn over to Kai's side to see it vacant. Walking down the stairs gingerly I hear him talking to his parents about little nothings such as "How did sleep? Was the movie any good?"

Getting a better look his hair is damp and his apparel has changed since last night. As I get closer to the bottom they notice me, asking the same questions. The table splayed out their freshly brewed coffee with steam whirling around the surface of the liquid. "Are you hungry honey?" Ma asks concerned pouring me a cup of coffee."No, I'm okay thank you, this will do" I say grasping the delicate china. Kai asks if I want to freshen up. Looking up, over the edge of my cup sipping the warm drink I hum in agreeance. Standing up from his chair he leads me back to his room to retrieve a change of clothes.

In front of his closet, he pulls open his drawer and takes out a yellow hoodie, and a pair of light blue distressed jean shorts that I had forgotten since my last visit. "I'll be waiting, we have a lot to do today," he says as if I understand what he's talking about. Confused I walk to his bathroom and grab a towel out of the cabinet and jump in the shower.

Fully dressed, with a clear mind and clean hair smelling like mint shampoo, now I know his secret to really soft and good smelling hair. The words out Jongin. Walking out I meet Kai laying on the bed absorbed in his phone just scrolling away. When I knock on the door frame to get his attention he jumps off the bed."Okay good get your phone we're going to have a nice bff date" he says with excitement grabbing my wrist pulling me out the door.
