Author's Note: What's up, pals!! I'm sorry for the false alarm yesterday, I had accidentally clicked "publish" and had to change this chapter back to "draft" quickly.

This was honestly the hardest chapter I've written so far, and I don't know why. This chapter kinda explores the conflicting emotions of several characters and that's REALLY difficult to write.

Especially when the characters are complex and emotional and full grown ~ kinda gay ~men with dark pasts/presents/futures and I'm an 18 year old lesbian who doesn't know anything about anything and each chapter is longer than the research paper I had to write for high-school.

Thanks.

P.S. the next few chapters... are gonna be lit 🔥🔥

Ming's P.O.V.

Two rough, wrinkled hands approaching him from amidst the darkness.

An unsmiling laugh.

"C'mon, boy, you know making it in this business comes with sacrifices."

Arms wrapping around his waist, rendering him motionless.

Words that were soft and chilling but rang in his ears like sirens.

"It won't hurt if you don't resist."

The same rough, wrinkled hands sliding from his torso down to his waistband.

"You'll be very successful."

Fingers unbuttoning his shirt -

"NO!"

Ming jolted awake, panting, drenched in cold sweat.

His defensive eyes darted from one corner of his room to the other, panicked.

Where was he? Where was he? Where was the man? He was about to hurt Ming. Where did he go? Was he going to come bac –

He's not here.

Ming closed his eyes, inhaling deeply.

It was a nightmare.

He was gone.

It was just a nightmare.

Ming stared at the ceiling, his hands twisting in the bedsheets so as to ease his irregular breathing.

What Forth had given him hadn't helped.

Forth had given him something bad. The pill had made him happy when he'd taken it. But it had also made the evil things in his head worse.

Forth.

Forth... and Beam.

Beam.

The unworldly man who just wants to be an actor. He just wants to follow his dreams, like Ming once had. And just like Ming, here he was, being dragged into a chaos that he hadn't created.

By Forth... and by Ming.

Beam, Ming had heard that name before. Only a few days ago. It was the name of a boy with big dark eyes and untainted skin.

"I'm sorry," Ming breathed into the nothingness of his room.

He tried to go back to sleep, hoping tonight's round of haunting images was past.

His eyes fell shut...

And there were arms around him again.

But these were smaller, more delicate. They glowed against the incandescent white light that was surrounding him, but they were powerful all the same.
