Chapter 3

The next morning I asked Carlita if she could un-tie my wings so I could stretch them out and use them in training. She agreed and as soon as my feathery, white wings were free, I ran and jumped into the air, snapping them out and pushing down hard then up, then down again. I flew in circles and loops, feeling the wind rustle my feathers. It felt great to fly again!

After half an hour, I finally soared down and landed next to Carlita, folding my wings into the small of my back.

"I will start by training you to throw blades." Said the assassin.

"Uhh, will that be dangerous?"

"Yes" she said casually.

I noddded confidenlty. "when do we begin?"

Carlita's POV

I watched the angel as she threw her blades with incredible accuracy, wings weren't the only thing the scientists had given her. This girl must have been genetically enhanced as well, with the amazing ability to learn new skills extremely quickly. As Monique continued to hurl the blades at the practice tree, I turned and walked over to my sack of weapons. I would now train her in close hand combat.

Monique's POV

I found the blade throwing a bit easy but I didn't say anything. Next Carlita showed me how to fight someone with a long sword. At first she instructed me to hit the tree but when this proved too easy, she got her own sword and showed me the moves that always won her battles. Carlita was very good, she swirled around, slicing the air and twirling a dance of death. I tried as best I could to copy her movements but she had been training for years and I was only a beginner.

At the end of the day I sat down under a large oak tree and started writing in my journal. I am documenting everything that Carlita has taught me so far and all that has happened since I've been with Carlita. I am beginning to forget about my past... what they did to me, it's thrilling to know that soon they will be the ones running. Fleeing from the angel of death, nobody can stop me now.
