A Shidge Tale (ShiroxPidge)

Chapter 6

Many of the Olkari people were gathered in the great hall, including team Voltron. Everyone was laughing, dancing and controverting with one another.

While Lance, Hunk, Coran and Allura got in on the festivities, Pidge was sitting in a chair by one of the buffet tables with Shiro, Ryner, and Keith.

Ryner and Pidge were talking so much science that it was hard for the other 2 to keep up. Shiro just smiled and was happy that Pidge was enjoying herself. Both of them have been having a hard time trying to relax with the babies on the way.

"So Ryner, how's it been being the leader of the Olkari?" Pidge asked.

"Yeah, and what happened to Lubos?" Keith added on.

"Lubos paid for his betrayal against the Olkari people. He has been exiled to a forbidden part of this planet and the people chose me to be the new leader. I used to be Lubos' advisor before his capture. While he was gone, I took charge and led our people into hiding -to gather strength and supplies."

"I'm sorry you had to go through that. To find out one of your own betrayed you, your leader no less.. It can't be easy." Shiro said.

"It was a shock to us all. But like all situations we adapt and learn, we put the past behind us and move on. Forgive but never forget."

Team Voltron spent the night on Olkarion. They got everything they needed and promised to start working in the morning, and take there leave back into space.

Pidge was sleeping peacefully on the couch while the others were gathered around whispering so they wouldn't wake her.

Shiro smiled down at her and he watched her chest smoothly rising and falling as she breathed. He took her glasses and held them in his hand so they wouldn't break while she slept.

"I think it is time we all got some rest. We have a long journey ahead of us." Allura said.

"What but it's not that late." Lance said a little too loud.

Everyone shushed him all at once and gestured to the sleeping Pidge. Lance put a hand over his mouth and whispered an apology, then complied to go to bed with the others.

Just as he was ready to wake her so they could head to their rooms for the night, Pidge woke up on her own with a wince. Her face grimaced.

"You okay? What's the matter?" Shiro asked, putting a hand on the young girl's back.

Pidge sat up and put a hand on her stomach, the pain passing after a second.

"I..I think one of them just kicked."

Before Shiro had a time to react, Lance and Allura pushed him out of the way with a large smile covering their faces.

"Really?! Can I feel?!" Lance said.

"Oh yes! I wish to feel the babies kicking as well." Allura added.

Keith frowned and pulled the 2 back with his hands on their shoulders. "Guy's give her a some space. She can't answer you with you both hovering over her like that."

Pidge giggles and nods. "Of corse, but the father gets first dibs."

She smiled at Shiro and notice a wide grin appear on his face. He leans in and gently places his muscular hand on her stomach. He felt 2 slight pushes against his hand, it felt weird but it made his heart sore. Pidge watched as she saw the grown mans face light up like a child on Christmas.

Soon the others had their turn.

"Incredible." Keith said.

"They sure are lively in there." Hunk said.

"That's because they're best uncle is with them." Lance pointed to himself with a grin. Everyone just rolled there eyes and laughed.

"Alright you little Klanmürals. I think it's high time you all got some sleep. Tomorrow morning we'll be taking are leave from Olkarion." Coran announced.

Everyone reluctantly agreed. They hated to go, but they knew it as for the best.

The night on the tech filled planet was relatively peaceful.

Pidge however had trouble sleeping from the consistent kicking of her little ones. She would rub her stomach to try and ease them, and it worked, for a little while at least.

By sunrise the gang was ready to go. The Olkari people provided them with food to take with them, along with the spare parts needed.

"It was really nice to see you again Ryner." Pidge said with a smile.

"You will always be welcome here, Pidge."

Just as she was turning around the pregnant girl winced. She thought the babies were just kicking really hard but this didn't feel like that.

"You alright Pidge?" Shiro asked concerned.

"I...I think so.. Ahh!" Pidge tried to get through the pain but it came on really strong the second time. "Shiro I don't think these are kicks."

Pidge slowly lowered to the floor feeling weak -Shiro falling with her, with his arm around her.

She put her hand under her stomach and let out shaky breaths. Her eyes widen when she felt a warm substance coming right from under her. When she removed her hand, it was blood.

Shiro's eyes widen. "Ryner run and get help!"

The alien nodded and ran off. Shiro's attention immediately turned back to Pidge. Her face quickly heating as if she was running a fever with small droplets of sweat beading her forehead, and tears staining her eyes as the immense pain never ceased. Not getting enough sleep the other night wasn't helping and made her body feel ten times worse.

"You're going to be okay Pidge. Just stay with me. Pidge..."

From that point on the girl just heard muffled words. She felt darkness cornering her eyes till it covered her sight completely, unable to see the scared look on Shiro's face.
